Last year in middle school and she's still my seatmate. Unexpectedly, we became good friends.
Pagkarating ko sa classroom, agad niya akong nilapitan, again with her overjoyed smile.
"Thank you sa flowers, Tree!" She showed me a bouquet of red roses.
Agad naman kaming tinukso ng mga kaklase namin.
I sighed. "Hindi sakin galing yan. Bakit naman kita bibigyan ng bulaklak?"
She's shocked. Pambihira. Iniisip ba talaga niyang bibigyan ko siya ng roses?
"Hindi mo ba to regalo sa birthday ko?" she added.
"Birthday? Kailan ba ang birthday mo?"
She opened her mouth in disbelief. "Tree! Birthday ko ngayon! Don't tell me nakalimutan mo?"
Ah. "Sorry. Nakalimutan ko nga." I saw a piece of note inside the bouquet. I got it and gave it to her. It's a small, white paper with a heart at the bottom. "Heto. May sulat yatang kasama."
"Hm?" She got it from me and read it aloud.

The first time I saw you I fell in love. You're like the sun in my life. Without you, I'll surely die. Please recognize my love for you. Let's meet tomorrow at the baseball field after dismissal. Please give me your answer.

She looked at me again. "Parang ikaw to eh."
"Urgh. Sinabi ko ng hindi di ba? Wala akong perang pambili ng rosas."
"Eh sabi dito 'Mr. T.' As in Tristan di ba?"
"Tch. Ako lang ba ang may pangngalang nagsisimula sa T? Matalino ka naman di ba? Mag-isip ka nga."
At nag-isip nga siya. "Hmm. Oo nga naman. Ang Tristan na kilala ko kasi kuripot at hindi sweet di gaya ng admirer na to." She said
I'm fully aware that she's just trying to get on my nerves and I'm ashamed to admit that she did.
"Huwag mo akong kausapin, Aelia. Nabwibwisit ako sayo."
"U-uy. Nagbibiro lang naman ako, eh."
I ignored her for the rest of the day.
The next day, I hang out with the boys during lunchtime.
"Talaga bang kaya mong di kausapin si Aelia ng isang buong araw?" tanong ni Lucas.
