-three years later-
"Are you sure they don't know?" I nervously gulp and glance back at Cameron. His hazel eyes stay focused on the crowded exterior of LAX. Our uber should be here any minute.
"Cam." I sigh, grabbing his attention again.
"I promise, Gray, they don't know anything. I mentioned it to your dad months ago, but he doesn't know it actually happened." He informs me with a soft smile.
"Are you sure? I feel like my mom somehow found out." I panic, hoping that's not the case.
"Your dad promised me he wouldn't tell her, the surprise is still perfectly intact." He places his hands on my shoulders as a reassuring gesture.
"I hope they didn't find out. I've been dying to see the looks on their faces when they see this gorgeous ring. Seriously, it's breathtaking." I lustfully sigh and look down at the engagement ring on my finger. The princess cut diamond is glowing in the California sunshine.
"I know, I did good." Cameron smirks and wraps his arm around my shoulder.
"Don't be cocky." I laugh and peck his lips.
"I'm just stating facts." He throws his hands up in defense.
"Our uber is here!" I happily announce once the black car pulls up alongside us.
Cameron helps load our suitcases and bags into the trunk. We pile into the backseat and give the driver the address to my parents house.
Living in Massachusetts and attending law school at Harvard was the best decision I ever made. I met so many amazing people and created new memories that I will forever cherish.
Living on my own allowed my independence to grow even more, and I overall had a great experience. The east coast is absolutely gorgeous, even with the cold weather and snowy season.
My parents, sister, Duke, Jesse, and of course Cameron have visited me and stayed at my apartment. I also made it a point to come home to California for every holiday, so I've seen my family a lot.
Three years flew by, and this past May I graduated from Harvard with a 3.8 GPA. I decided to move back to California once my time in Massachusetts expired, and was placed at a law firm in Los Angeles. I knew my heart was always meant to be in the sunshine.
My family flew across the country for the ceremony, and I was blessed to have them cheering me on in the stands. Once they left, Cameron stayed the entire summer with me. We made a plan to come back to California once September rolled around. We're in the process of buying an apartment together in LA to be near my parents.
Last week, Cameron and I went out to dinner at our favorite italian restaurant. When we got back to my apartment, candles and rose petals were set up all over.
I turned around to tell him how stunning everything looked, and he was already down on one knee. A beautiful ring was exposed to me in a black velvet box. I was shocked, and couldn't stop crying.
Of course I accepted his proposal, and we promised to keep the news a secret until I could show my parents the ring in person. It has been extremely hard to not post anything on social media, but I haven't spoiled the surprise yet.
Cameron and I have been together for three years now, and I grow more in love with him everyday. He treats me like a queen and never forgets to tell me how perfect or beautiful I am. He's always been my best friend, but now I get to spend the rest of my life with him.
I'm so excited to be Grace Renner and I can't wait to see how everyone reacts to the big news. Everything is falling into place, and I couldn't be more excited for the future.
