The Greeks had a short expression, a rule of conduct; "know thyself." Now, how do we know ourselves? To understand and to know yourself is first to embrace the fact that you don't know yourself. That's the first step, realize that you need to observe your actions because you don't have enough knowledge about who you are. It's essential to do this step so that you can fix your issues step by step. Where should you start? You can begin by having a food diary, log everything you eat on a typical day, and compare it to what you should be eating. Always ask yourself, "would a healthy person eat this?" If not, then why should you, your overall goal is to be a healthier person, and the first step you can do is to not drown yourself with sugary sweets and carb food that leaves you feeling even more terrible. It'll be super hard at first, but the more you build your willpower muscle, the more you will have self-discipline. But don't rush it, take things slow. Slowly cut out stuff from your routine, this will help you adjust to situations without feeling overwhelmed by too many changes. Do not put yourself down if you mess up one thing, we are not perfect, and it's okay to make mistakes but don't follow it up with another error. Love yourself and be patient.
Note:
I hope you're doing fine. Remember to forgive yourself and not forget your goals. It'll be hard, especially in the beginning, but I promise you if you continue eating healthy, and exercising things will get better.
