Rebekah had been in town for 2 days. She went there when she had time and this weekend was the time she could come.
She liked to keep an extra eye on her boy. She could never leave him too long but with Alaric she knew that he be safe with him. With the situation that's happening in New Orleans she had to send him away.
When she first met him he was still a little toddler.
He was hiding behind his playpen, scared to move or even look at a person. The little boy refused to talk to anyone.
Rebekah learned to love him like her own son, she found out that his name was Pedro but he didn't have a last name.
In the end Pedro was living with her until he was old enough to live with Alaric and the girls in the private school.
Rebekah never told Hope about him, she just wanted him to be her own secret. The only ones who knew Pedro and his situation was Alaric and her siblings.
Alaric understood that keeping him safe was important. When he turned 5 she sent him to live in the Salvatore school.
The twins and Hope was assigned to take care of the boy after school. They learned to adapt around him until he was old enough to start school.
The girls was always there for him when he needed someone. They always did something with him unless Alaric was hanging out with him.
The Salzman and Hope always made him feel loved and cared for which he was happy for since he knew them since he came to live in the school. He was happy little boy who had the headmaster who help raised him and teach him and do father son things.
Rebekah and her brothers couldn't find anything of Pedro's family so when he turned 5 she adopted him as her own son.
She still remembers that day she found him hiding in the corner of the ambulance. The look in his scared little face broke her heart. His face was covered with dirt and tears running down his face screaming for him mother.
She never expected a toddler to be the surviving victim of a fire. Usually she handles older surviving victim like teens or adults.
He was hiding his face behind his hands in the corner of the bus. The EMT'S didn't want to scare the little boy so that they had to back down.
She stood outside the ambulance observing the little boy.
"Hi sweetie she said with a soft voice. The little boy peaked through his little fingers, looking who the voice belonged too.
He kept his head down, scared to look at her.
"I'm just gonna sit here until you want to talk"
Pedro sat in his corner, tiered and sleepy.
"Are you okey there?" he heard her soft voice again.
Pedro looked up at her. He had stopped crying and he decided that he wanted a hug.
He walked up to her and sat on her lap. This made the blond happy. She quickly and careful held the little boy in her arms until he fell asleep.
The EMT'S drove them to the Childrens Hospital so that Keelin would make sure that he was alright.
"All his test is fine and he is healthy. He is just exhausted and need to eat and sleep" her sister in law said.
"That's good" she said and smiled at the boy.
When Rebekah was walking out of the room the little boy started to cry again and he was waving his arms towards the blond and walked back in and the boy crawled back into her arms.
Both woman understood that the boy was scared to be left alone so that she stayed.
He held on to her and refused to let go. When he was cleared to leave the hospital a social worker was supposed to take him with her but she convince her to let her take him instead.
The social worker agreed and she took him home. Weeks went and he became his foster mom.
Since he had been living in the school she had made a deal with Alaric to visit him every other week when until he was old enough to start going to classes. Until then they would have their weekends.
She told him to keep the boy close to Hope so that she could protect him.
