"Yes Inna" she answered as soon as she left the room in a hurry, Inna dangerously glanced at her "Well done princess so you've finally answered me" she said sarcastically.
Amrita bow her head in respect "I'm sorry Inna, I swear I didn't hear you" It took Inna some minutes before she hissed "Have you fetched the water or you went to do your work" upon hearing this Amrita's heart skipped a beat "I'm talking to you and you kept quiet" Inna yelled at her.
"Inna I'm sorry" Amrita cried, her body shivering in fear, Suddenly, she felt something hard on her face, "So you've grown to the extent that I gave you a work to do and you decided not to " Inna yelled as she picked the pestle laying beside the stove "Today you must tell me the reason behind you not doing what I ordered you " hitting her hard with the pestle.
Her cries almost woke him up but he just stirred in his sleep, all the commotions, the neighbors heard it all. "Shut up your mouth before I break your bones witch" Inna venomously spat "And I swear, make sure you go and finish what I've told you and if not you don't have any food in the house witch" she hissed and left to her room.
She left amrita who laid down crying her heart out, she was used to all the abusive words Inna throws at her, while her father will just stand there and act as if she was not HIS and he doesn't have a say to Inna's behavior. Slowly, she dragged herself to where the pots are being kept and she picked one, she walked to her to room to check if he was still sleeping, and she was glad he hasn't woken up and she left for the river bank.
AMRITA BACKGROUND
Malam bello Muhammad son to Malam Muhammad Mai Dawa, his father was a hunter and that was the reason they call him MAI DAWA, he lived together with his parents in YAMALTU village which was located in Gombe state. They were fulani, Mai Dawa has a wife named Baba Larai who is also residing in the same village, it has been 2 years of their marriage before Allah bless them with a baby boy whose was named BELLO and from him she hasn't conceived again, Bello grew up with love and respect and he later got married to Aisha Saminu whom is known as Indo , after their marriage with 3 years Bello's parents passed away.
They live happily with each other , years has passed away without any news of Indo being pregnant which really made them to be worried, the villagers talked badly about Indo for not being able to give birth which result to Indo asking Bello to remarry again but he rejected the offer. She tried to convince him and gladly he gave up and agree to her request, that's when he met lantana and got married to her, after 2 years Indo got pregnant, everyone was very happy about it especially Malam Bello.
On the other hand Lantana was jealous of Indo, days after days finally Indo gave birth to a beautiful baby girl but she didn't had the opportunity to glance at her daughter's face, Allah took her away after giving birth.
Malam bello was devastated due to the loss of his first love and wife and on the other hand Lantana was very happy about it, the girl was named after her mother but would be called Amrita meaning immortality and also someone with great talent or let's say a perfect moon child who makes everyone happy.
Amrita grew up lacking the love and care of both parents, she grew up in sorrow and tortures from her step mom Lantana . All these tortures, her father couldn't say a word to Lantana because he was under a spell , and through all theses years Lantana couldn't give birth. The hatred that increase between lantana and Amrita is Amrita's beauty especially now that she has grown into a young adult.
Amrita was well educated on her Deen, When she was 13 years old she discovered that she has a gift to produce Islamic herbs, Amrita has a passion to study but unfortunately her education stopped at the primary school level.
STORY CONTINUES
As she reached the river bank to fetch water, her body shivering in fear and the thought of this stranger was disturbing her knowing he's suffering from fever. After she fetched the water, she went behind some bushes and plucked some leaves and fold it behind her wrapper, she picked up her pot hoping that Inna won't entered her room.
When she reached home, she poured the water into the water tank and went into Inna's room
"Inna I've poured the water into the water tank" she said as she turned towards her dad who was busy in enjoying his meal pretending not to see her. "Good evening Baba" she greeted "I'm fine" he answered curtly.
"Oya get up you witch and go beside the stove your food is there" Inna said giving her some deadly glares.
Amrita stood up and walked towards the stove to get her food, walking towards her room trying to stop her tears from falling , she picked a clean calabash in her room and mixed the herbs she plucked inside it, she recite some prayers in it and start thinking on how to wake him up.
"Please stranger wake up and have the medicine I've made for you" he opened his eyes slowly, their eyes were locked for a moment, this action made her heart to summersault.
"Innalillahi wainna ilahi rajiun" was all he was reciting, all the incidents came flashing back to his head , he kept staring at her for a while before he recalled she was the one who saved him.
"here take this, you are suffering from fever" he stared at her and back to the calabash and he turned his head away meaning he won't take it "Please would you take it, I don't want Inna to come and see us like this" she said and he could clearly understood that she was scared.
He began to wonder, who is this girl? and why was she talking about Inna, he didn't take the herbs nor he talked to her but he was staring at her, slowly she approached him with the cup, he took some minutes before opening his mouth and he drank it, the way his face expression changed you could see that he didn't like the test of the medicine.
"Here have this food and take some rest I will sleep at the corner beside this room by tomorrow you would be well recovered and then he can leave for your city" she said while placing the food beside him and left the room.
He was surprised by her actions but he has a lot of questions he want answers to, but he left it all behind waiting till morning to ask her and seriously he can't really eat this food, he adjusts his position and went back to sleep.
