Chapter 13

It's been five months now since I've been at S.H.I.E.L.D. Almost the same things happen each day. I wake up, eat, be bored, sleep, and repeat.

Okay, maybe I exagerated a bit. I also watch Lily and the other agents train, and I occasionally attend their meetings. Lily and I hang out quite often, just not as much as we used to. She has a boyfriend now. Name's Ed, a new agent here. I don't blame her though. She can't stop herself from living her life because of me!

Even if she didn't have a boyfriend, even if she hung out with me twenty four-seven, it would never erase the emptiness, the lonliness I feel inside. The fact that I'm apart from the guy I love, the fact that I'll most likely never see him again, it hurts. It hurts badly!

As for Nick, he hasn't been rude to me lately. Probably because I'm obeying the rules. I mean, I have no choice right?

Now for Phil, I've been wondering. I mean, I know he's second in command after Nick, but he seems different. It seems as if he actually cares. That he realizes the pain I'm going through. I don't know, maybe he's just generally nicer than Nick.

________

I'm lying on my bed, listening to music, when I hear pounding on my door. "Gwen, it's Lily," she calls. "Open up!"

Must be urgent. She usually never knocks that hard!

Without being invited, Lily rushes in when I open the door.

"Put on the news!" she orders.

 "But I was listening to...."

"Just do it! You'll thank me in a second."

Without anymore comments, I turn on the TV and put on the news, finding Spiderman swinging around the city. Wait, SPIDERMAN?!

 "Bbbbugboy?" I say to myself.

I watch him walk up to a little boy that's dressed in a Spiderman costume, standing in front of a machine that resembles a rhino. "Hey Spiderman!" Peter says to the boy.

"I knew you'd come back," the boy tells him.

"Yeah, thanks for stepping up for me. You're the bravest kid I've ever seen. I'm gonna take care of this so you can go take care of your mom, okay?" Peter and the child fist bump. "Alright, get out of here. Go. Go."

The boy runs back to his mother as he was told. The crowd cheers on. So am I, on the inside.

Meanwhile, Peter receives a megaphone from a cop. The Rhino yells to him saying, "You'll fight me! You'll fight me now, yeah?"

"On behalf of the fine people of New York City and real rhinos everywhere, I ask you to put your mechanized palms in the air," Peter replies.

"Never! I crush you, I kill you! I destroy you!" In you're dreams artificial animal!

"Do you want me to come down there so you can kill me?"

 "Yes."

"I'll be right there!" Peter sighs, tossing the megaphone away. "There's no place like home."

As The Rhino charges after him, Peter swings a manhole cover at him. Result? Bugboy's a winner with the artificial animal as a looser.

"So is now the time you want to thank me?" Lily asks.

"Yes, thank you so much, Lily!" I say almost tackling her with a tight hug.

"Of course! I'm glad he's back. The city needs him, whether Nick thinks so or not."

 "I agree."

 "So, you wanna grab lunch?"

 "Sure, we're to?"

 "How about the cafeteria?"

"Okay, I'll meet you down there."

With that, Lily leaves me by myself in front of the TV. I fall onto my bed with a sigh. Wow, he really returned. Spidey is officially back in business!

This only means one thing. He finally found hope, and he's back to give others hope, which gives me hope.
