"To us." I said, holding out my glass of water.

Bailee smiled her perfect smile, holding up her glass also. We clinked cups and took a sip. I ran my fingers over the pocket on my khakis and felt the box. It was still there. Good. The waiter came over and gave us the bill, and Bailee reached for it.

"Let me." I said, took the receipt and pulled my wallet out.

Bailee laughed. "Thanks, Wyatt."

She smiled again, revealing her straight, white teeth. I placed my credit card on the receipt and was extra generous with the tip.

"Someone's in a good mood." She teased.

I just smiled, and felt my cheeks go red. Bailee tossed her blonde hair behind her and stood up. I took her hand as we walked to my black Honda Civic, and she leaned her head on my shoulder.

I opened the passenger door for her and said, "After you, m'lady."

She laughed and sat down on the grey seat. I walked to the driver's side, opened the door, and took a seat. While she turned the radio on, I checked to make sure the box was still in my pocket. It was.

The song that played when we met at the senior graduation party came on the radio. It felt like a sign. We looked at each other, grinned, and started belting the lyrics. When it ended, we were both panting and hoarse. Suddenly, Bailee pointed at something on the floor of the car. It was the box.

 "What's that?" She asked.

She made a move to pick it up, but I was faster than her and I reached down and grabbed it. Without realizing it, I had pressed my foot on the gas pedal, and the car sped into the opposing lane.

"Wyatt-" Bailee shrieked, and that was all she got out before a pair of headlights from another car blinded us.

There was the screeching of brakes, metal clanging, and glass shattering.

When I came to, I was in a too-bright hospital room. There were cuts all over my legs from flying class, and an ache in my leg. I sat up abruptly.

"Bailee!" I screamed.

"Bailee!"
