One night passed.

Then two.

Three.

No change in Bailee's status.

Her family visited her the fourth day that she was there. After persuading Doctor Monroe, I was allowed to go down with them. Samantha wheeled me down, and I saw Bailee's entire family standing around her bed, crying. Her mother and father turned around, saw me, and stiffly left the room. Only Bailee's sister, Saige, remained. Saige was only one year younger than Bailee, which made her one year younger than me, also. I wheeled myself next to her.

"They think it's your fault. That you did this on purpose." Saige's eyes were red.

"What?" I asked.

"My parents. They think you crashed on purpose." Saige sniffled.

"B-but I didn't. It was an accident, I swear." I blubbered.

"I know. I believe you. You guys were so happily in love, I couldn't believe you would do something like that, but my parents..." She trailed off.

For the first time in a long time, I noticed Saige. I noticed her blonde hair like Bailee's. I noticed her ocean blue eyes, and her faint freckles spilling onto her cheeks. She turned her head and saw me looking at her.

"What?" She frowned.

"N-nothing." I mumbled, ashamed that I had let myself look at her like that.

She sat on the edge of Bailee's bed and took her hand.

"Her hand is ice cold." She shivered.

I pushed myself up out of my wheelchair and almost fell over. Saige caught me, but I landed inches away from her face. Her lips were a breath away.

We gazed at each other for a while, then I sat back in my wheelchair and Saige turned and faced Bailee.

"I-I should go." I waved awkwardly.

Saige nodded and said, "Okay. Um... bye."

I wheeled myself out of Bailee's room where Samantha was waiting for me. She grabbed the handlebars of my wheelchair and wheeled me to the elevator. As we were waiting for our floor, I couldn't help thinking about how Saige caught me, and how close together we were.

"I can't be thinking about Saige." I thought, trying to push her out of my head.

I tried thinking about Bailee, but that just made me want to cry. I kept finding myself thinking of Saige, and I felt horrible about it.

"Bailee. Bailee. Bailee." I thought.

"Saige. Saige. Saige." My mind chanted instead.

Saige.
