"Bailee!"

The name seemed to echo throughout the hospital.

My heart pounded in my head.

"You've killed your girlfriend!" My brain screamed at me.

I was panting. I glanced at the clock. It was four o'clock in the morning. My mind raced. We had left the restaurant at ten-thirty. I had been out for nearly six hours. I snapped back to reality.

"Bailee. Bailee!"

I didn't even realize that I was sweating. I tried to scream, but my throat was scratchy.

"Bailee." I croaked.

This time, I mustered up enough energy to cry out, "Bailee!"

A nurse with blonde hair rushed in. Hair like Bailee's.

Her nametag read, "Samantha".

"He's awake." Samantha called into the hallway, then whipped out a stethoscope.

She listened to my heartbeat until a doctor with blonde hair also walked in.

Hair like Bailee's.

"I'm Doctor Monroe." He held out his hand to shake.

I nodded, being too tired to lift my hand up.

He checked my eyes and said, "You'll be fine, Mr. Pierce."

I mustered enough energy to ask, "Bailee. Where's Bailee?"

Doctor Monroe frowned. "Come again?"

"Bailee Simmons. She was in the car with me." I struggled speaking the words.

Doctor Monroe and Samantha looked at each other.

"Well?" I asked.

Doctor Monroe chuckled nervously. Samantha gave me a sad smile.

I had enough of it.

"She's my girlfriend, okay?" I hollered. "She was supposed to be my fiancée, before everything went... wrong."

I swallowed hard.

"Please just tell me whether she's okay or not." I pleaded.

Samantha looked at Doctor Monroe.

"He deserves to know." Doctor Monroe whispered.

"Know what?" I cried.

Doctor Monroe took a deep breath and said, "It appears as if Miss Simmons has fallen into a coma."

"What?!"
