A voice called from somewhere off in the distance. You woke up slowly, head pounding. You got out of bed and looked down to see that you were still in your SOLDIER uniform.
"Thank god you're alright ____. You were tossing and turning like crazy last night muttering things and crying and moaning?" Cloud looked at you confused.
You gave him a raised eyebrow and remembered your dreams last night.
"Oh yeah, that." You scoffed.
"Are you alright?" Cloud asked you.
"Yeah I'm fine. I just had a dream that Sephiroth was back-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Calm down ___. I killed Sephiroth remember?" Cloud looked at you holding both of your hands to let you know that you weren't alone.
"I heard a voice though. It sounded like a girl. She said the planet's in trouble. " You spoke quietly looking at the floor rather than at Cloud.
"She had a ribbon in her hair, and she...was carrying a basket of flowers? But flowers don't grow in Midgar right?" You asked Cloud confused.
Cloud was smiling a little upon hearing your description.
"What's so funny?" You asked.
"It's not funny it's just...she's an..." Cloud was choking back his tears.
Clearly, he knew the girl but did something happen?
"She's an old friend." Cloud said unable to hold back the tears.
"It's...It's my fault she died. Zack, Aerith...I'm sorry." Cloud was sobbing into your arms at this point.
"Hey, it's not your fault." You told Cloud in hopes of calming him down.
"In addition to telling me that the planet's in danger, she also told me that 'it's about time you did the forgiving'. She never blamed you for her death." you said rubbing Cloud's back.
