My One and My Only

A/N I cried when writing this. Maybe I'm just an emotional mess but...

"Cloud!" You cried running down the stairs. "Speak to me."

"___?" Cloud gasped.

"I'm here." You whispered. 

Cloud smiled weakly and held his hand up to caress your cheek.

You smiled with tears threatening to fall from your eyes.

"Don't leave me Cloud."You sobbed. 

Cloud looked at you sadly. "___, have I ever told you this?" You could hear his strength slipping away as he spoke. 

"Please, Cloud save your strength." You said shakily. 

He shook his head. "We come from the lifestream, we return to the lifestream. That's what Aerith said. The only difference is when we return to it." He winced in pain.

"___...you are my living legacy...More importantly...My...One...And...Only..." You leaned down to kiss Cloud one final time before you felt him go cold and limp. Tifa and Barret looked down at the ground. You closed Cloud's eyes looking into the depths of his green-blue eyes that once gleamed with life now staring off into a sky full of stars that you will never see. 

"Let's mosey, or so, that' what Cloud would say." You said looking down at Cloud's body. 

Tifa looked at you with a mixture of guilt and pity. Barret was turned away. 

"Merc was a hero 'till the very end." You could hear the tears in Barret's voice. 

"Yeah..." You said.

"We can only move forward." You said looking up at the sky. 

Tifa and Barret nodded. 

"Let's go." You said with a weak smile. The three of you walked past everything and looked back at the Shinra building one last time before you descended to the slums.
