"Hey, miss!" A group of young children called to you.

"Wanna see something cool?" they asked.

"Okay." You nodded.

The children ran up north and took a left. There you were met with a thick wire.

"I remember this..." You began.

"Yeah..." Cloud said sadly.

"Well, there's nothing to do but climb." You said trying your hardest to not cry.

Cloud nodded. The climb was slow and silent save for the scraping of your shoes against the wire. Not at all like the first climb so long ago when everyone was still alive. after much climbing, you reached the alleyway. Walking through it, memories of Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge following in suit. You shook your head telling yourself that those days were no more.

"It won't do to dwell on the past." Jessie's voice rang out from the depths of your mind.

You snapped to attention.

"I'm in the lifestream now." She told you reassuringly.

"Biggs and Wedge are with me too."

"Don't worry ___, we came from the lifestream, we return to the lifestream. It's how this world works."  "Aerith told us that." Biggs said smartly.

"Tell Barret that Marlene is safe for me okay?"  Wedge asked you sadly.

With that, the voices disappeared from your mind and in its place was emptiness.

You looked at Cloud and Barret

"Let's go." You said without your usual tone of cheer.

"Right." They said back.

"We're all ready." Barret said.

You began the long trek up the many flights of stairs. Only, this time, it wasn't necessary. You opened the metal door and you were greeted by a vile sight. The corpses of Shinra grunts scattered, laying in a pool of their own blood. Windows were shattered as if someone had shot them. The bright flourescent  lights overhead shone harshly. Their hums magnified a thousand times by the silence.

You spotted a trail of blood that lead up the stairs. Drawing your sword, you followed it. Though the building was lit, you couldn't help but feel as if you were walking into the depths of some dark, sinister thing.
