''Sweden... Can I into Nordic?''
''Estonia, don't forget the 'get' and 'the'! We have talked about this so many times! it's 'Can I get into the Nordic, please,'' Britannia went on, lecturing her about grammar.
''Do not encourage her.'' Sweden gritted.
''Wait, so, can I?''
''Can you what, Estonia?'' Britain tried helping her.
''Into Nordic?''
A plethora of groans could be heard throughout the whole English classroom, the loudest from Britain and Sweden. They were having a discussion right now as a part of the lesson, but somehow it always turned a little bit chaotic. It was either about politics or the best sauna experience they had this weekend, depends on who's gotten paired up together. And Sweden definitely hated being paired up with Estonia the most, the only word he could practice with her was 'no'.
''UK, I strongly request that there be some sanctions put on this girl, she is eating all of my damn brain cells!''
''She must have a very small stomach then.''
''It's not like you had many, to begin with.''
Denmark and Finland's comebacks resonated through the room almost like clockwork.
''I swear nobody appreciates what I do for the EU,'' Sweden grumbled like a bitter old man.
''As for your request, Sweden, I cannot answer to it,'' Britannia explained with a sigh. He walked back to the blackboard and tapped on it with his pointer twice, making everybody quiet down.
''I hope all of you understand why we do these paired discussions every week on a random basis. It is so you don't get too caught in your own culture, so you integrate with others, and so you can converse with someone you might usually not,'' he spoke in the usual boring lecturing voice, ''If peace is not kept during these conversations, then I will not hesitate to call the EU. Or UN.''
It was almost like a threat. Jeez, is wanting into the Nordic really worth all this fuss? But it wasn't like the UK was all that... well, threatening. With his monocle and top hat, he looked a bit silly. Though she tried to not let that make her forget his power and influence.
''Class is dismissed. I will see all of you next week. For any of you having difficulties, I will see you the day after tomorrow.''
She truly appreciated that he never said 'the new members' when talking about the extra lesson they attended. In reality, that's what it was, just a lesson for the newbies. You'd never see any of the Nordics in those lessons... although Sweden still had a funny accent, he was never asked to show up. Not to even speak of the founding members, this was supposed to be an English class for all EU members... but you'd never see Germany in this classroom, or France or Belgium. They're just too busy I suppose...
Standing up, she gathered her notes and pen to put them back into her bag, starting to make her way to the cloakroom. December in the city wasn't too bad, but walking here and back home had definitely required her to bring a warm winter coat, and maybe a few scarves. The Baltics had finally gotten a car, seeing as they started having to go to the city every week, but... Estonia still couldn't confidently drive it. So since both of her brothers had, unfortunately, come down with a fever, she had decided to walk to class. This was the first lesson she had ever been in completely alone, of course, one of her brothers was sometimes missing, but never both. The loneliness wasn't as awkward as she thought it would be though, somehow she kept the same confidence as before, even in annoying Sweden.
Speaking of Sweden... he and the rest of the Nordics were standing in a completely inconvenient place in front of the door, and because of that, she had to somehow move through them.
Breathing in deeply for courage, she asked them to move out of the way.''E-excuse me, can you move out the way?''
There was a small pause in their conversation as they all turned their attention to Estonia, ''Well, Can I inTo NOrDic?'' Norway said with a mocking voice. Now, this isn't good... normally Latvia or Lithuania would be behind her but now she's all alone. What are Norway and Iceland even doing here?
The way she always annoyed Sweden... she knew it was a bit stupid. But it was all in good fun. That didn't give them the right to make fun of her... right? The slight blush on her cheeks couldn't be helped though, embarrassing.
''Oh shut up...'' Finland intervened, pushing him out of the way gently and opening the door for Estonia. The sudden relief she felt was almost unbelievable. Nodding with a smile on her face, she walked through the door, Finn following.
''They don't mean to be rude. That's just... how they are.'' she assumed that was him trying to make her feel better.
''You don't have to say that, Finn, I-'' she paused for a second, struggling to admit it to herself, ''I know they don't like me very much...''
''No-'' saving herself from Finn's pity talk, she interrupted,
''Do you want to go get coffee?''
''City?''
Estonia just hummed in agreement, leaving Finn to tell his brothers that he'd be out while she grabbed her coat. He always made sure to specify that they were going to have coffee in the city, and although it was a bit pointless, it was simply because Sweden didn't really allow her in the Nordic house, and he probably didn't want to give her any hope. Not yet anyways. It was fairly normal for her to hang out with Finland these days, though, they had gotten over the initial awkwardness pretty quickly. Even though they hadn't yet addressed the past completely, it was just sort of natural for her to be around him since they were so similar, from their languages to their love of coffee, they were almost the same person. Except for... well, Estonia wasn't Nordic, of course. But I will try my hardest to change that.
