Chapter 18: Selfish

"Calum!"

Nobody moves, nobody breathes, everyone in this room just completely stops. I feel my blood start to boil and I turn to Calum who's got a huge grin on his face. I glare at him, but he doesn't seen to notice.

He starts to take a step forward, but I put my hand on his chest and growl," I don't know what game you're playing, but don't pick a fight you can't win."

"Well, we obviously know who she loves more. I don't hear her calling your name." He taps his ears and pushes my hand off his chest.

I pull my arm back to swing, but Luke steps in front of me and Michael steps in front of Calum. Luke yells at Emmaline to open the door and shoves me out into the hall. I struggle, but I'm so low on energy from the past 6 months that I just let him push me. I see Michael push Calum into the hall too and that makes me feel a little better knowing that he isn't in there with her alone.

"Listen, you two need to stop acting like children!" Luke lectures.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I scream, "She wakes up and the first thing she says is Calum? She's mine! You've got to be fucking kidding me! Now let me back in there! I need to make sure she's okay!"

"Ashton no! The doctors and nurses asked us to stay out here while they tend to her and ask her some questions to make sure she isn't brain dead, so you are going to sit out here and not cause any problems or I am going to take you home and you'll stay there instead!" Luke grabs my shoulders and forces me into the chair outside the room.

I let out a breath and just let my head hang. I run my hands through my hair and exhale again. This is total bullshit. Why the fuck would she say Calum? Did she really love him more? Does she love him more?

I can't even think straight anymore I get up and start pacing. I want to punch Calum so fucking bad. I can't even function and I bet it would make me feel a whole lot better.

(DOCTOR'S POV)

"Alright dear, are you able to tell me your name?" I ask my patient, poor thing has been asleep for 6 months and is just now coming to.

"Uh, yeah. My name is Renae." She says uncomfortably.

"Alright Renae, we are just going to ask you some quick questions okay?"

"Alright." She nods.

"Do you remember what happened to you? And do you know where you are?" I take out her file and start reading her chart ,25, female.

"I-I can't remember exactly what happened, but I remember feeling instant pain and then looking at a bright light." She puts her hand up almost like she was reaching out to it, "That sounds crazy, and I am pretty sure I'm in a hospital considering the environment and equipment." She points at all the wires attached to her and me.

I smile at her," You are indeed in the hospital, but you are here because you got into a car crash. Do you by any chance remember where you were going?"

She looks up trying to remember but gives up after a minute and shakes her head no.

"That's alright, um, can you tell about your family, friends, someone that you want us to call?" I try feeding her information to make sure her frontal lobe wasn't damaged too bad.

"Oh, uh, my mom and dad, but they're in Canada on a business trip. My best friend Emmaline should be at home." She looks down at her wires and smiles," and my boyfriend Calum, he should be home too, have you guys called him yet?" She smiles again and looks up at me.
