Another innocent
black man
This time
one of mine
Black police brutally
We're running out of time
There's no where to run and hide
You'll always be a target
Death lurks every corner
The ones meant to protect you
will kill you
for the white collarAnother innocent
black man
This time one of mine
"You're not from here, so obviously you're a criminal!"
Oh how I hate that analogy
Africa is forever dyingI'm trying
to show you why you're wrong
But my accent is funny
and I don't speak your language
Will you ever learn to speak mine?"Let me in! Open the fucking gate!'
They could have shot him
They could have took my brother away
And you stood there
watching
as they grabbed him by the neck like a slaveAnother innocent
black man
This time one of mine
You'll go down
for your sins
You'll learn the true
fury of a black man
You'll feel the harsh truth
of your mistakes
You'll see a lifetime behind the bars you so
desperately wanted to
lock him up in.●●●●●
This was written from true events. I am still in awe that this happened so close to home. To someone I hold dear. A brother from another mother.
This took place in South Africa so you can imagine how shocked I was that something we're so used to seeing on the news, happening in America, took place so close to home. Police brutality is a real and black people are targeted. Every day. I don't want to debate about the importance of my life. It shouldn't be a debate. I want to write happy stories about my people. I want to read and write about black joy.
