4:37 pm

I enjoy rain.

A lot of people hate it. Those people being my grandparents and any other rat who enjoys happy bright sunshine.

Fuck sunshine.

It's too hot, it's too bright, and I'd rather die.

I stared out at the rain, doodling in a notebook full of video game character drawings. I'll admit, I'm not the best at drawing people but landscapes are my fucking pride and joy.

It was so much easier for me to display emotion in a landscape drawing rather than one of a person.

Don't get me wrong, some people can draw humans and animals so well that they look realistic. Like, pictures that can make you feel things just by a glance.

For me, my own drawings of people held no emotion. They were just pencil on paper.

I saw a familiar pair of people walking out in the rain, making me throw my notebook down and run downstairs.

"Jihyun-", my dad called after me.

"I'll be back!"

I ran out of the door and over to Kioshi and Natsuko, who were soaking wet but having fun with it anyway.

"Wow, someone's happy to see you.", Kioshi nudged her, making her smile and shake her head.

"I like your hair.", she reached up and poked at the ball of fluff on my head.

"I'm most definitely not happy to see her.", I scoffed, gently smacking her hand away. "But I did need to talk to her."

"Cool then!", Kioshi smiled brightly. "Because I've gotta get home ASAP!"

"Godspeed bro."

He barely even nodded before running off.

"So, Dad wants to know if you're staying over again."

"Are you sure it's not any trouble?"

"Trust me, it's not."

"Then...Yea."

"Awesome! Because I need to talk to you.", I grabbed her wrist and pulled her across the street, straight into my house and up to my room.

"What is it Jihyun? You're so energetic today..."

"I told you not to call me that. Again. And I just had to talk to someone about this."

"I'm someone!", she skipped over to my bed and plopped down at the end of it, crossing her legs and smoothing out her damp skirt. "Come on, tell me!"

I sat down next to her.

"Tomato fries."

"Ew...", she furrowed her eyebrows.

"They have potato fries, curly fries, and waffle fries. What if there was like....donut or tomato fries?"

"Um.", she scrunched up her nose. "You know waffle fries aren't made out of waffles.... right?"

"I just wanted a conversation started, damn."

"Well that was dumb.", she shrugged.

"But it worked. We are conversing."

"Any reason why you're so happy today? You're usually all....rude."

"Fuck off.", I glared at her. "I'm not rude."

"Oh right, of course, you're the kindest man I've ever met."

"I try.", I bowed slightly, making her laugh.
