Chapter 5.

10th October

Dan's POV
The doorbell rang and I run downstairs to the door. My camera should be here today. I've got tonnes of video ideas in my head already, I just need to do them.

I open the door and on the doorstep is the delivery guy with my new camera. I sign for it, lock the door and run back upstairs with it. By the time I'm up there, I'm out of breath and can taste blood in my mouth. I need to exercise more. Maybe for my New Years Resolution.

I walk into my room back words, holding the box. I put it on the floor, get some scissors and try to open the box. For 5 minutes! It eventually opens and I take the camera out. Piece by piece. How many pieces actually make up a camera? Too many in my opinion. I take the instruction manual out and try to fix my camera up.

*2 hours later*

At last! After 3 failed attempts of actually trying to put it together and then 5 attempts of trying to work out how to film, it's finally ready. At 1 in the afternoon. Yay(!) Note the sarcasm.

I decide to just wing it as I already have an idea of what I'm going to say. I set up my camera and start to film...

11th October - 5pm.

Phil's POV
I'm glad I persuaded Dan to make YouTube videos. He seems a lot happier and has apparently stopped cutting. My laptop beeps, signalling a Skype call from... Dan! I answer the call and dig down.

"Hey Dan," I say.

"Hey Phil," he says bubbling with excitement. "I made a video. Can I send it to you?"

"Of course. Is it alright if I call you back when I've seen it?"

"Yeah. See you in a bit."

Dan ends the call and the email containing the video finally arrives. I click on the video and watch.

Dan comes on from the top left hand corner showing his face. It skips to him standing in full view.

"Hi. So my name is Dan."

He makes box shapes with his hands when he says his name.

"Nice to meet you."

He mimes, shaking his hand towards the camera.

"And this is my first proper video I guess."

He lets off a party popper over his head and shouts "Wooooo!!"

"I mean, I've always kinda wanted to be someone who posts videos, but I've never had the confidence or motivation. Says the person with tissue paper all over his face," he says sarcastically, picking off some of the tissue paper.

"But that was until some really good friends I've made recently, persuaded me to give it a shot."

I pause the video. Does he mean me? I smile. He's acknowledged me in one of his videos. I play it again.

"And so I am," he says holding his hands out.

"I sound nothing like this in real life by the way, this laptops microphone makes me sound like some peadophile slash tramp slash..." He pauses. "Polar bear."

He gets a polar bear toy and says to it "Please don't take it personally." The polar bear then 'attacks' his face.

"My videos will probably be a variety of things like little skits to vlogs videos or creative things. I'm gonna try to make them interesting and not all the same. Yeah, I'm gonna try my best not to be one of those people who just sits there like..."

The screen changes to Dan in black and white with black stains down his face.

"So today kinda sucked. Erm. Went to college and it was raining. Yeah. This is kinda awkward, don't know what to say."

He laughs.

"Yeah I'm probably gonna go now."

The screen changes back to normal Dan.

"But yeah, I am gonna try to at least attempt to be entertaining."

He dances with one of those slinky things in his mouth and a stuffed Toad from Mario Kart.

"So yeah if you could please click the box of infinite happiness cos I'm gonna try and make videos quite soon."

He points to his head and says " I've got loads of ideas and I'll try to post videos regularly."

The screen changes again, to him trying to get the black stuff off his face.

"What have I done to my face. Bleugh!"

The screen changes.

"Side note, look what I woke up with."

He shows his arm to the camera and he seems to have found a way to cover his scars.

"I just woke up and that was on my arm. What the **** is that?"

He bleeps out the swear word.

"It's like some persons come up with a square brand and just impaled me in my sleep. Probably. So yeah, if you'd like to subscribe I will love you forever..."

He makes a hand heart towards the camera.

"...and I will see you soon."

He fires some more dancing, but with rainbow colours. He stops and says "What the **** am I doing?" again bleeping out the swear word.

The video ends and I am astounded by his creativity. I Skype him and tell him what I thought about the video...
