CHAPTER SEVEN: Werewolves?

Eyes like the devil he's got.
Even in the depths of insanity, he still looked like his infamous family. Long black hair, chiselled face and the posture of royalty.
Wherever this was, it was old – scratch marks went up the side of the walls, four types of animal tracks embedded in the floorboards. A rat, a deer and two dogs like prints one small, one large.
Cobwebs were in every corner, a broken bed on one end and a piano in the middle.
"Someone did betray your parents that night, but it wasn't him." Lupin tried to reason.
Harry pointed his wand at the two men, "Who was it then?"
"Peter Pettigrew. "Black said, his words laced with venom and hatred.

In a hurry, I stuck my wand in my hair securing the bun - pulling my cardigan on as I pushed my feet into my shoes.
"Where are you going?" Hadleigh as she tied her Ravenclaw tie.
I kissed Drizella's forehead," I need to talk to someone."
"What happened?"She asked
I stopped at the door and looked back," I think he's innocent."
"You're taking the piss?" she exclaimed, "After what happened last night? Go to Dumbledore, that's what he said to do when this happened!"
"I'll explain later – just tell Flitwick I'm with Lupin and if it's dire then I'll go to Dumbles." I shouted as ran out of the room.

Taking a short cut down the moving staircases, I jumped the last three steps and came face to face with a group of Gryffindors rolling their eyes at their door.

"What villains are these that trespass upon my private lands! Who dares challenge, Sir Cadogan! Back, you scurvy braggarts! You rogues!" He said waving his sword around, falling over as it outweighed him.
"Who's that?" I asked Neville subtly pointing at the knight.
Seamus looked at us, "He's barking mad! That's who he is!"
Dean snorted," What d'you expect? After what happened to the Fat Lady, none of the other pictures would take the job."
"Still not answering about who he is," I pointed out.
Seamus looked behind him at me," Sir Cadogan, one of the knights of the round table – so he says. He's normally down the Divination corridor but got moved here."
Neville sighed holding a piece of paper," But he keeps changing the password. Twice just this morning! I've taken to keeping a list."
"Farewell, comrades! If ever you have need of noble heart and steely sinew, call upon," His helmet slipped as he hit his chest before lifting it up," Sir Cadogan!"
I raised an eyebrow.
Ron looked unimpressed at the knight's heroism," Yeah, we'll call you -  if we ever need someone mental."
"He's trying." I shrugged, "Better than a riddlesome door knocker."
Checking my watch, I ran down the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Ron asked.
I stopped at the bottom," Verifying something – I'll be in charms don't worry."
"What happened?" Hermione asked.
"Nothing!" I shouted, a little too quickly, "Family? Yeah... Family."

Before Neville could blow my excuse out of the water, I ran down the stairs and went down the defence corridor.
Remus Lupin was leaning over his desk, his head resting in his hands – his record player at a low volume.
"Can I help you miss Longbottom?" He asked looking up.
I adjusted my bag on my shoulder, "Who's Peter Pettigrew?"
"He's dead. Why do you ask?"
I coughed, "His name was on a photo with my parents, you were there too and Sirius Black."
He sat on the edge of his desk," Yes, I suspect so, considering I'm -,"
"My unofficial Godparent?"
He nodded, "Not that I was a good one."
"Who is he?" I asked again.
"He was my friend," Professor Lupin explained, "They all where, during the war, Lily recruited Alice as they shared a dorm then Frank with his job, both had just qualified as Aurors out of Hogwarts."
"Right," I said in thought.
Professor Lupin coughed, "How is everything? After?"
"After you came in the Wearhouse with Moody and Dumbledore?" I asked," Florean Fortescue hated us because he blamed us for mum's...condition – as if, if she was with anyone else, she would be ok. I ended up dreaming random events in time, Neville is probably going to become a Herbologist and here we are. Oh, and Gran still hates you for the teacups."
He smiled, "Naturally. Don't you have class?"
"yes," I said, "But I had a reasonable question about History of Magic which you were a part of."
"That I was." Professor Lupin smiled as he wrote something on a piece of a paper, "And here is that note."
Taking the notes," Thank you, for your insight."
"It was nice talking to you Celyn." He confessed," If you need any more... answers, I'm willing to tell you."
I smiled, "I may take you up on that later."
