For the next few nights, you do the same thing. You train as hard as you can by just watching Link. It is pretty difficult. You are covered in bruises and your entire body aches. Your parents become worried and ask many questions. You always tell them that you must have started sleepwalking because you would wake up feeling sore. Your parents are very gullible which comes in handy when you need to lie. There is no way you could let anybody stop you now. You are finally starting to feel comfortable with a spear. You know you will have to tell your parents the truth eventually. If everything works out like you hope it will, you will be leaving the village. You can't just leave without saying goodbye.

One morning while you are wandering the beach looking for seashells, you hear some of the other girls gossiping. You are a bit curious so you start walking a little bit closer still pretending you are looking for something. "Yeah, I heard he's leaving tomorrow." One girl whispers. "Aww what a shame it was nice having him around." the other whines.

"They must be talking about Link", you think to yourself. You get a little nervous at first but calm yourself down quickly. You are fine. You had a feeling he would need to leave soon. It isn't like he could stay in the village forever. You have been preparing for this day for some time now. You are still hoping that your plan will work, and if not you have a secret weapon.

The next afternoon you see Link head toward the Meeting Hut and assume that means he is telling the elders that he will be leaving. You have no time to waste. You run back home, grab the spear from under the hut, run inside to grab your "plan b", and run to the Inn where Link is staying. You hadn't seen his horse earlier so you guessed that he must have left it at the Inn which is perfect. He hadn't arrived yet so you set down your items and wait.

His horse is tied to a post so you go over and started stroking its mane. It really was a beautiful horse with a black mane and a deep brown body. The village had some wild horses that would roam around but they were terrified of humans so you could never get very close. "He's not usually friendly", a voice says from behind you. You turn around a bit surprised at the sudden voice.

"Oh, really? He seems plenty friendly to me."

"Do you need something? I need to be leaving now. I want to get on the road before it gets too dark." He states.

"Then why not wait until the morning?" you ask. "I don't have time for that." He replies. "Okay then... Well, I've come to ask you again if I could tag along."

"The answer is still no." "I understand why you say that but I've been practicing some things." you grab the spear, "With a bit more of your help I could protect myself and you wouldn't have to worry about me. I can show you what I have learned so far."

"Not necessary. I have to go now." He says sharply. "I didn't want to have to do this but if you agree to take me on your journey, I will cook amazing meals for you every night. Plus, you can dump me at the next village and I'll go by myself from there." You add. He seems to be in thought. At least he is thinking about it instead of just saying no. You are almost positive he is a sucker for a good meal. You had seen his face at the feast, and how excited he was when he finally got to eat.

"I even have some food for you right now." You go over and grab your secret weapon. Your favorite, seafood rice balls. "They aren't hard to make and are pretty tasty".

He starts to smile a bit as you hand him the food. He quickly takes a bite and says, "We have a deal! If you can make yummy dishes whenever I say, you can come along." "Really! Thank you! Thank you! Give me ten minutes and I'll meet you at the village exit!" You don't wait for his response. You run back home to let your family know the fantastic news and to grab a few things for the journey ahead. Your little sister will be so excited even though your parents won't.
