I looked at the next letter. It was from her mom. It was 10 pages long. I decided against reading it, which would take up too much time. I looked for the last one I was really looking for.
Her dads letter.
He might've wrote something about me. I really need to know if he thought I was good for his daughter.
I looked for a whole five minutes. There was only 4 letters. I groaned. Where would it be?
Just then Luke walked in and nearly fell over when he saw me.
"Oh. I was just-"
"I read the letters," I told him.
"I knew it," he smiled.
"Yeah," I sighed.
"You know, I never tried to steal Rachael from you, and never would I ever try to. I swear," he said smiling at me.
"I know," I said honestly.
"Were you about to-"
"Write a letter? Yeah," I finished for him.
"Oh. Well, I'll leave you to it, then." He walked out closing the door behind him.
I stared out the window before I decided to just focus on writing my own letter.
"Think, Ash. Think," I spoke to myself.
I got out pen and paper from the drawer and just thought. After ten minutes of thinking, I finally just put my thoughts on the paper.
Dear Rachael,
I don't want to believe you are dying. I really don't. I really am praying that you don't but if you do, I want you to know I love you so much. I really do. I will never forget the time I had with you. Nothing was better than the time with you. Nothing. I love all the times we've had together. They were all amazing. I just-I paused. I looked at her beautiful face. I carefully took her hand rubbing small circles on it, before continuing.
I just love you so much, and I can't imagine myself making it without you. I probably would be one of those people who is lonely because he was rude to everyone. It's kind of like you kept me sane, and I'm just happy that you were the one to do that. I miss having fights with you because, I know we were arguing, but we would just get closer because we'd understand how each other felt. I miss when we would go out on dates. Including the ones where I embarrassed myself because no matter what I was making you laugh. I'm so happy to be able to say that you are my girlfriend. Any man who dates you will be the luckiest man on Earth. I think that you really are my other half. No. I know you are my other half because these past few days I've been so sad and grumpy. No one probably even liked me because of my attitude. Like Calum said, many of our songs were based off of you, or you were on our minds as we wrote. You are just such a big part of all of our life's because you've either really helped us, or we've really helped you. I think I'm just lucky to have known you. I need you to know that I can't live without you. You can't leave me right now, baby. I can't make it without you. I wish you would just comeback. You-
I nearly screamed when I felt a light squeeze on my hand. I looked down to see Rachael's hand was giving that squeeze. Her eyes were slowly opening.
I quickly pressed the emergency button on Rachael's bed. They needed to know she was up.
"Ashton?" I cried when she talked, just so happy to hear her voice again.
"Yeah. Yes, baby. It's me."
