There were very few times in the months she'd know Ryan, that she wish he was here. But sitting at the dinner table, with her stepfather and mother staring at Addie cut up her pork-chop , she'd kill to have Ryan sitting across from her.

" Football practice must be running late, getting ready for the game tomorrow." Greg smiled taking a large bite of marsh potatoes

" You must be so excited about the first game of the season " Addie's mom smile, " I can help you pick out something pretty, maybe something blue , to bring out those eye" her mom reached over, brushing Addie's hair out of her face.

" I wasn't actually planning to go" she took her mothers hand, and placed it back on the table, biting her lip . " "Me and Donna were thinking about going to see Days of heaven , that new movie with Richard Gere"

" And miss your stepbrothers first football game? " Gregory shook his head " some kind of family"

" Well are you going Gregory?' Addie pushed her knife through the pork-chop, hitting the plate with a loud dink.

Ryan came from the back door, dropped this foot ball gear on the floor, and sat down the table, serving himself. He was quite and not is normal go luckily self.

" If I could, I would go  , or do I have to remind you I have a job. Little girl"

"Ohhh...  I know cutting out hearts, lungs, I remember" Addie sneered at Gregory, her mom kicked her from under the table, and shot her a look.
" I could go the game, I haven't been a high school game in years" her mom smiled sweetly.

"thanks Helen, but nobody really needs to come, I'm not getting that much game time anyway", Ryan was staring down at this plate pushing his mash potatoes into a mountain.

" the star quarter back of his last high school, not get game time ?" Gregory slapped this son's back, in what Addie assumed was meant to be a sign of comfort. How was that meant to be comforting, Addie grabbed her roll, taking small bites.

" You don't' you ask Addie?" Ryan was still staring down at his plate, Addie looked up and took a slip of water,
"Me? I don't know did you fumble a ball, is that a thing in football?" Addie stared at Ryan confused, was he really going to blame what happened between her and Thomas Bradley for his lack of play time.

" I didn't fumble anything, it's you going around slapping Thomas Bradley the football captain, that's done it." Ryan, pointed his fork at her " all you had to do was say yes"

Both her mom and Gregory set down their forks, and Addie shot a glare to Ryan.

" Go on Addie tell them, how you slapped the Captain of the football team, in front of the entire cheer leading squad when he tried to kiss you" Ryan titled his head towards Addie " Go on"

" Okay, so I did slap him but what's that got to do with your game"

" He's pissed Addie,  so he took it out on me at practice and then talked to couch  saying , I need more practice, bullshit" Ryan slammed his hand on the table. Addie stared back it him in disbelief and anger

" he's pissed.. He's pissed  he shoved his tongue down my throat, and grabbed everything he could get his hands on, and he's pissed!" Addie stood up from the table .

" Addie language, I'm sure Thomas, I'm sure it was a misunderstanding, sit down and We'll talk about this"her mother was holding Addie's arms keeping her from leaving

" this misunderstanding, he shoved his dirty mouth on mine, and fondled my ass" enough roared Gregory interrupting Addie " Look at the way you dress no wonder the boy thought you were coming on to him, you were asking for it, if simply apologize to the boy"
