Vanstock the night before

Addie was sitting in her bedroom, all she had to do was ask her mom is if she could  go on a road trip with Donna, Jackie and maybe some of the guys. She didn't need to go into the details, she just didn't want Gregory to have a chance to put in his word. But he always worked night shift on Friday night. She sighed standing up from her bed, and headed up the stairs. She could have sworn she heard he step dad's car start. Once in the living room, she could her her mom walking around upstairs in her bedroom. Addie softly went up the stairs and knocked on the door "mom?"

" come in" Her mom was standing in front the mirror perfecting her nurses uniform and he step dad nowhere in sight. She walked in the bedroom, the room was cold everything  was perfect, everything a light tan and blue. She shivered, her mom and dads room use to be chaotic; pillows and blankets everywhere, mom's make-up use to clutter the dresser, but now everything was in perfect order, almost like nobody lived in the room.
"Addie did you need something?" her mom turned to her now, her white  nurse's uniform making her auburn hair pop,

"umm.. Yeah, Donna, Jackie and I wanted to go this festivals, it's a few hours drive from here, but we'd leave Saturday morning and probably be back before lunch on Sunday?, it that okay?" she looked up at her mom hopeful " we'd sleep a motel close to the festival " Addie lied. She wasn't exactly sure if there would be any sleeping.

" a festival?" her mom squinted her eyes " overnight? You Donna and Jackie would be sleeping in you own room, separate from whatever boys you aren't telling me about?"

" Yes, mom. I promise" Addie smiled "please! The boys will totally be in their own space"

"what boys" he Step-father walked in from the hall, loosing his tie. Addie's heart dropped, why was he still here

" aren't you working the night-shift"

" change of plans" he pulled the tie off and sat on the bed " now what all this"

'Addie tell him" her mother smiled," after all he is the one that will be home"

" I was hoping to go to a festival with Donna and Jackie, I'd go tomorrow be back late Sunday morning" she said  hopeless, she was waiting for him to laugh at her, yell at her.
"a over night again? Like the sleep over you had at Donna's a few weekend ago? His his brows knitted together, he stood up walking toward her.
"yes" she said staring back at him.

" the one where you snuck out with a groups of boys, and didn't come home until after midnight" he shook his head. Addie mouth dropped. " or what about Halloween, when your mother let you stay out late, and you walked home from that frizzy haired boys house!" his voice thick with anger " or the other dozen nights, you were "hanging out with Donna" and those "boys walked you home"

" they are my friends, they just walked me home, on their way home Jezz" Addie shot

"just walked you home, is that right? Come with me you little girl " Gregory grabbed her by the arm, and pulled her down the stair. He mother following, but not saying a word. His grip was tight on her upper arm, she yanked away at he bottom of the stairs

"What the" Addie began. But Gregory pushed her into his large arm chair, he grabbed her chin and shoved it toward the window.

" let go of me"

"Gregory" her mother said, stepping forward .

" no, Look out that window, tell me what you see" Gregory removed his hand from her chin, and held out his hand stopping her mother. " tell me what you see"

Addie looked out the window, anger and fear racing through her veins, " I can see the street light, so what" she stood up, but he pushed her back down,

" the street light, where that frizzy haired boy, walked you home on Halloween with his tongue shoved down your gullet" he roared, pulling her up from his chair and onto her feet.
