The Alpha's Mate

Chapter:5

Alexis said I needed to make a dramatic entrance,so while she and Jennifer walked downstairs to turn the music on, I hurried out of my room. Making a dramatic entrance,was not how I wanted to start the night off. I walked into the living room instantly surrounded by people.

"Shay!" Jack,my best guy friend, yelled.

He has a crush on me and one time he said he would pick me over his mate,but I couldn't do that to my mate or his. It makes me feel kinda bad,but I promised to spend the night with him,because it may be the last time I get to since he's a guy and all.

"Hey." I smiled kissing his cheek.

"How about we go get a drink and then dance?" he smirked.

"Let's do it!" I shouted over the music.

He pulled me through the crowd of people into the kitchen that was no longer blocked off.

We each took three shots,just enough to make you kinda tipsy. We walked back to the living room,hand in hand,and started dancing. After about an hour I lost count of how many shots I took and was grinding with Jack. Someone growled and I was jerked into a hard,but warm,chest that made my body tingle.

Mate my wolf purred.

"Fuck off." Jack growled pulling me towards him.

"Mine." the blue eyed perfection snarled.

Jack's face fell,as he let go of my hand. He sniffled like he was trying to hold back tears. He gave a small smile,before he turned to walk away.

"Jack!" I called after him,trying to get out of my mates grip. The more I struggled the tighter his grip got.

"Who is he?" my mate growled.

"My friend,and I would rather be with him,than the ass that is current crushing my rib cage in." I growled at him.

He instantly let got to make sure I wasn't hurt and I took the opportunity to run and find Jack. I sprinted outside onto the patio. Jack sat on the steps with his head in his hands.

"Jack?"

"I'm fine. You should be with your mate." he sigh.

I walked over and sat down next to him laying my head on his shoulder.

"I knew this would happen. That's why I kept you in the friend zone." I mumbled pulling my lip between my teeth.

"You'll never see me again. I remember when you got hurt your hand playing football at school,because you punched that boy in the face for cheating,and I promised I would always keep you safe and never let anyone hurt you ever again,but I can't. I knew this would happen and I knew you would never pick me over your mate,but I couldn't help,but fall for you." he whimpered.

"Jack I told you we couldn't get attached." I whispered,fighting back tears.

"But I did and it's to late."

"You'll find your mate and you'll forget that I was ever even here." I cooed putting my hand on his cheek,making him look at me.

"I don't want a mate. Mates are clingy." he chuckled at our inside joke as a single tear slide his cheek,"I'm never going to see you again."

"You will see me again,even if I have to run away." I smiled,as I started to cry.

"Pinky promise?" Jack smiled.

"Pinky promise!" I grinned.

He whipped my tears away with his thumb as he kissed my forehead. Males don't like for their mates to hang out with other males, I knew there was a possibility that I would never see Jack again,but we have so may inside jokes and promises made to each. Our friendship is worth more than gold and I love him to death. There was no way in the world my mate,no matter how possessive or protective he was,would come between us.

"Shay." Alexis gasped running and pulling my by my arm.

"What?" I snapped.

"Th-the A-Alpha," she panted.

"Calm down." I giggled.

"The Alpha is pissed as hell and wants you." She panicked.

"Bye." I waved and smiled at Jack as Alexis pulled my back into the house.

As soon as we walked in someone grabbed me and jerked me into their chest.

"Mine." he growled.

I still don't know his name,but I feel it's no an appropriate time to ask.

"What the fuck where you thinking? You could've been taken or shot or hit or- God!" he sigh gripping me tighter.

I let him have his moment. I didn't say a word as he lectured me about going places with out him. I didn't say not one mean thing as he held me.

"Are you okay?" he whispered.

I simply nodded.

"Do you talk?" he chuckled.

"To people I like." I scoffed.

"Well," he swallowed,before he continued, "I'm sorry if I offended your friend."

"You didn't,but you didn't have to jerk me away from him like that." I sigh.

He swallowed again before he started,"He was all over you," he gritted his teeth,"and this dress is to short."

I'm starting to think he sallows his pride when he corrects himself.

"Well I'd be happy with a simple apology." I smirked.

He swallowed "I'm so very," he paused to swallow clenching his jaw, "sorry."

"So gotta name?"

"Chase." he smiled.

I nodded as I turned around to Jennifer and Alexis standing behind us giggling and snickering.

"Those are my friends,Jennifer and Alexis." I smiled.

"I'm glad you have female friends." he smirked.

"Don't push it." I snapped.

The rest of the night was spent arguing wether or not I would go with Chase or stay here. In other words my whole party,except for the one hour I spent with Jack,was a bust.
