As I woke up, I felt a strange sense of calmness; maybe it was the scent of lavender or the fact that I hadn't eaten for a long time. I sat up sluggishly and looked around for any signs of food. I noticed that Heron wasn't in the room; Could he still be with Zelpha or in another room. I walked around but didn't see Heron, maybe it was all a dream. Almost immediately, the door swung open, and Heron walked in with Zelpha, who looked manly and half my size, maybe smaller.
"You may be wondering why I'm shorter than normal," Zelpha said;
"Yes, but I'm also wondering what there is to eat," I said jokingly and let out a giggle;
"Dwarves are group-minded beings, and they make maps based on the recommendation of other dwarves," Zelpha continued
"So, Zelpha shapeshifted to the form of a dwarf so that she can sneak in and get the map for us,"
"Are all dwarves...manly," I said with a lack of a better term. Zelpha had a very bushy and surprisingly well-kept beard, hairy forearms, but no hair on her head,
"Well, it depends," Zelpha said,
"Each dwarf is different, so some might be almost hairless, while others might have a ton of hair," Heron added
"Anyway, we are about to get something to eat from the food joint,"
"Food joint?" I asked a little confused but relieved,
"Couldn't you buy groceries or whatever you buy here,"
"We don't use currency here, the Food Joint is where we all go to eat before we get on with our jobs," I said
"You have jobs, wow," I said genuinely surprised because they seemed to have a lot of time
"Hurry, let's go before all the food is finished. It's just around the corner," Zelpha said impatiently. As we started walking, I realized I hadn't changed my clothes or had a bath. I still hadn't gotten used to the alternating hues of the trees and the three moons but no sun.
"Do you have spare clothes anywhere or am I stuck with this cloth forever," I said sarcastically,
"You can get some from the tailors," Heron said
"But you need to have a kind of sketch of what you want,"
"Since we're going on a quest you're going to need some kind of defense, so would I,"
"Alright, what kind of defenses," I said enthusiastically, maybe I could get a badass cape or a rope with a utility belt
"We're going to need something like armor, and potions," he said
"And a badass cape," Zelpha said jokingly as if she read my mind
"Where can we get potions from?"
"I know some necromancers who can help, good ones too," Zelpha answered
"I've gotten some good potions from Florus,"
"We're here," Heron said staring at the edifice ahead, it was a medium-sized structure that looked longer than it was at the first glance. It didn't have pillars like the library but seemed to have a stable foundation. It didn't look like a place where people come to eat. "It seems empty," I said
"Let's go in, and we'll see if you change your mind then," Zelpha said almost jumping in excitement, As we went in, it was like entering a new dimension, literally and figuratively. It was more crowded and louder than I imagined; different creatures eating and chatting, different rows of strange foods and seats.
"Wow, I stand corrected," I said,
"Hurry, food is about to run out," Zelpha tugged pointing at empty bowls
