Chapter 21
"I already told you, I don't want to join your super secret boy band." Tony and Director Fury sat together in a booth of a donut shop. Fury chuckled at Tony's comment. Tony had probably one of the worst headaches in a while, and to top it off, Athena wanted nothing to do with him till he was completely normal. He brought his coffee cup up to his mouth, but hesitated on drinking it. "I'm sorry, I don't want to start off on the wrong foot, do I look at the patch or the eye?" He muttered to Fury, who has a smirk on his face about his comment. Tony lowered his sunglasses slightly, "Honestly I'm hungover, I don't if you're real or--"
"I" Fury interrupted him, and leaned towards Tony on the table, "Am very real, I'm the realist person your ever going to meet."
"Just my luck." Tony murmured. He glanced to the other side of the shop seeing how it was deserted. "Where's the staff here--?"
"That's not looking too good." Fury saw Tony's veins on the side of his neck.
"I've been worse." Tony said under his breath, finally taking a sip of his coffee.
"We've secured the perimeter, but I don't think we should hold it for much longer."
Tony put his cup of coffee down and lowered his gaze to see Natalie in a black catsuit. "You're ffffffired."
"That's not up to you." Natalie say next to Fury in the booth.
"Tony, I want you to meet Agent Romanoff." Fury stated.
"Hi." Tony said uninterested.
"I'm a SHIELD Shadow, I was tasked this mission by Director Fury." Romanoff said.
"I suggest you apologize." Tony said in a cocky tone.
"You've been very busy." Fury started, "You made your girl and daughter CEO's, you've given away all of your stuff, you let your friend fly off with your suit now if I didn't know better--"
"You don't know better, I didn't give it to him, he took it." Tony interrupted Fury.
"Whoa whoa!" Fury raised his voice. "He took it!" He exclaimed. "You're Iron Man and he just took it!?" Fury exclaimed again. "The little brother walked in there kicked your ass and took your suit? Is that possible?" He exclaimed and turned to Romanoff.
"Well according to Mr. Stark's security guidelines, there are redundancies to prevent unauthorized usage." Romanoff said and Fury turned back to Tony.
"What do you want from me?" Tony said.
"What do we want from you?" Fury questioned, at the time Romanoff slipped off the booth and walked away. "No, the question is, what do you want from me? You have become a problem, a problem I have to deal with." Fury stated. "Contrary to your belief, you are not the center of my universe, I have bigger problems then you in the southwest region I have to deal with--" Tony had lowered his head as Fury kept lecturing him, Romanoff was walking back to the booth with something in hand. "Athena, left in just a good time to see you before she got involved the chaos that recently happened. Hit him!" Fury instructed Romanoff who injected something into Tony's neck, and he groaned.
"Oh God! Wha--What are you gonna take my kidney and sell it!" Tony exclaimed and Romanoff inspected his neck, the edge in his veins were clearing away. "What did you just do to me?!"
"What did we just do for you." Fury corrected him. "That's lithium dioxide, it's gonna take the edge off, we're trying to get you back to work."
"Give me a couple boxes of that and I'll be good." Tony said.
