Amber quietly hummed to the music in her headphones. The banging on her door had brought her out of her thoughts.

"Get that lazy ass of yours out of that bed! School is starting in half an hour!"

The annoying sound of her mother's voice screeched throughout the entire house.

Amber sighed in frustration, pausing girls on film by Duran Duran.

"I'm up and ready, mother!" She yelled in annoyance, checking over her outfit.

She had recently gone shopping with Harper and had bought a nice purple dress.

Smiling at her reflection, she glanced at where the scars and bruises would be if she hadn't covered them up.

Her smile dropped a tiny bit but was back on her face just as fast as it disappeared. She had her hair in a messy bun.

She ran down her stairs and grabbed her bag from by her door. She opened the door and slammed it closed.

She smiled at her bestfriend as he passed her a smoothie. "Your favourite," he muttered. The colour was a purple, and it tasted just like grapes.

She smiled in thanks, walking beside him as he rode his bike. Jack smiled, watching his second favourite girl sip on his home-made smoothie.

"New outfit?" He questioned, noticing the new outfit she was wearing. Confused on how he noticed the new outfit, she mumbled to him: "yes."

Her eyes met his just as Jack stopped to talk properly. "How'd you know?" Amber questioned, chuckling slightly as Jack shrugged.

"I saw you shopping." after he noticed Amber's raised eyebrow and popped hip, he sighed, "I-okay, maybe I look at your outfit everyday and you've worn every outfit at least once!"

Amber's cheeks flushed a very light pink, one Jack didn't notice. "Any luck with Jodi?" She questioned, nudging the boy that was her height.

Amber and Emily both sat in the library, watching as Jodi and this dude make eye contact. "They're basically eye-fucking." Amber mumbled in disgust, taking a sip of the smoothie.

Emily noticed the smoothie and smiled. "From Dunkleman?"  She questioned, though she knew the answer. The blonde nodded, noticing a new kid walk in the library.

The new kid was hot, but wasn't hotter than Jack. His eye caught hers and he smirked. Emily and Amber both shared looks.

"What's the big deal with this book, anyway?" The best friend's attention was pulled away from Mason and were now fixed on Jodi and the boy who Amber and Emily didn't know.

"It's apparently all deep, but I have no idea what it's supposed to be about." He shaked his head.

The new kid sits at their table. "I'm Mason." He smirked, shaking each of their hands. "I'm Amber and this is Emily."

Mason smirked, his eyes lingering on Emily, though only Emily caught it. "Are you both parking tickets because you've got fine written all over you."

The two girls glanced at each other, blushing furiously. "I know I've only known you for,"

Emily and Amber look at Jodi and the boy, frowning. "like, two minutes, but would you maybe wanna...."

Jodi stood up, making the boy go wide-eyed. Amber immediately joined Jodi, glaring the boy down.

"Would I maybe wanna what?" Jodi chuckled, not noticing Amber stand by her. He opened his mouth but no sound came out.

"Um, never... never mind." He shakes his head. "Never... never mind."
