"Y/n, you're not listening to me. Living in a place like this and not having anyone else but yourself here, it's lonely and depressing. You need a roommate or a pet, just something!" My best friend Kelly gestured to my penthouse. I couldn't say she was wrong. Cause she wasn't. I lived in a decent sized penthouse by myself.
Here's a few quick facts about me so you what I do and who i am: As my best friend Kelly has said before, I'm Y/n. I'm a 19 year old collage student. I work at a hybrid-friendly cafè and or bakery and my father and mother are the founders of the biggest hybrid rescue shelter, of which I sometimes volunteer to help out. When i have the time that is. My parents bought me my own place when I turn 18 so i could have my own space for collage. I'm not spoiled, I work for my own money and i'm hoping I can become a professional graphic designer when I'm done with school.
Now enough about me, back to what Kelly is talking about. "Whoa, girl. Chill. I was already planning on adopting a hybrid from my parents rescue shelter," I explained to her, with my hands up to stop her from speaking further. "And I'm hoping to do that in about two days?" I questioned myself. Not really knowing when I should go.
"Holy crap. Can I come with to meet which hybrid you get?" She asked.
I thought for a moment. Taking in her question. "Sure. Why not." I shrugged with a nod of my head. "You'll be able to come, right?" I asked her.
You see, Kelly has this thing where she says she'll show up but ends up cancelling. Its not her fault that things happen and she has to take care of it. Side note: She works at a zoo as a zookeeper.
So all in all its fine if she does cancels. "I'll try my best!" She smiles brightly. I smile back with a chuckle "Ok. It'll be fine if you can't make it. No hard feelings." Kelly usually feels bad that she has to keep cancelling.
"Ok Ok, I'll keep that in mind. This is gonna be so cool! You're finally getting a hybrid!" She squealed. "Your hybrid and mine can be friends! And we can go out to places to eat! And we can also go on trips and to the bea-" I put my hand over her mouth, stopping her from talking. "Whoa Whoa, dude. Stop talking. Take in note, that seeing that I'm adopting and not going to a store to get a new one. That'll mean that this hybrid might of been taken out of a abusive home or something like that. So we'll have to take it slow with this hybrid. Ok?" I finished, removing my hand from her mouth and waited for her take in what I said.
She nodded in understanding. "You're right. Sorry. How long do you think it'll take to get your hybrid comfortable?" I thought about her question. Adding in the math on what could've happened to a hybrid that was abused, both sexual or physically. "Maybe half a year or so," Kelly opened her mouth to say something, but before she could i continued on what i was saying "But maybe taking them out will help with that process, but only after a month or two after i get them." I tell her, smiling to myself and being excited that I'll have someone with me in this place.
'It finally won't be just me here!' I thought to myself. I couldn't suppress the smile on my face. I was excited and happy that I'll be giving a hybrid a better life than before. "What do you think I should get? A male or female?" I asked Kelly with my finger on my chin in thought. She didn't answer for a while, being lost in thought just like me. "Well, it doesn't matter what gender you get. But in a way it does. You see, if you get either a male or female they'll both go into heat. But surprisingly male suppressants cost less than female's." She explained to me.
"Now that I think about it, you're right. But honestly it depends on how the hybrid and I get along. So it could be any gender really." I said to her while thinking more about the topic.
After a while with Kelly and I talking about anything on our minds, it had finally started getting late to which she decided to make her way back home. "Drive safe and text me when you get home." I told her while we hugged goodbye At my door. "I will. I'll see you later, Y/n." With that she left and made her way to the elevator, while I waved from my door. The doors to the elevator started to close us not stopping to wave until we didn't see one another anymore.
With a sigh I made my back into my home, closing the door behind me. "Now time to figure some things out." I thought for a moment. Thinking of things to do.
"Oh! I know! I could fix up the spare room for when I get my hybrid..." I trailed off, realizing that i was talking to myself again. "I really need to stop doing that."
I made my way to the room. The door being closed seeing as I don't go in it, obviously I never had a reason going in before.
The room itself was plain and boring. The walls were white along with the bed sheets. There was a desk in the corner of the room with nothing but a lamp on it.
This room is mostly used when your friend wants to stay the night. So it's completely bare.
With a thoughtful sigh I came up with an idea of how I wanted to change the room.
With an excited smile on my face I begun making my way to my room. Grabbing what I needed -being my wallet, car keys and a hat- I than made my way back to my living room before walking back to my front door while putting my hat on.
