The young CEO was a mess he was constantly showing up to meetings late, constantly drinking, constantly slacking off. He had finally discovered what life was like without the one person that he wanted to spend his life with the most. And when his friends finally noticed the more, drastic changes, they pushed an end to his shenanigans.

"Mark what is going on with you?" Jaehyun asked the wrecked male, who smelled of bourbon, and had seemed to not have shaved for weeks now.

The room was black, with only the lights coming in from the closed blinds lit the room.

"You've been a mess. What's with you. You're never like this!" Taeyong added in clearly pressed about the matter, "You act as if you've got nothing to live for, anymore."

"I practically don't," The youngest of the three said, more like muttered as he could barely look away from the center of his office, where a framed picture laid on a shelf. A memory that could only ever be a mere memory.

After a short silence, which only the sound of the ticking of Newton's cradle was heard.

"He left me," he muttered.

"What?" Both of the elders exclaimed as they looked at each other shocked at first before quickly retreating to the male, with an astonishing gaze.

"He packed his things, and left me. Me of all people!" He exclaimed. "I gave him everything I had. Money, a job, opportunity, love," he began trying to stand up as he tried to stand up, but failing and sitting in front of his leather sofa.

"You know I was so happy, for the first time in my miserable life, with him. He made me laugh, smile, and feel fuzzy on the inside. He gave the attention whenever I wanted it. He needed me to protect him, and by golly I sure did! But I wasn't enough, enough to make him stay," he blurted out drunkenly.

The two figures stood in front of the male, looking at him with both anger and sympathy as he had never looked defeated before.

"Mark. I think-" the blonde male sighed as the younger continued on.

"He was the shining light in my rainstorm. The yellow to my purple. He loved me more than my own mother did!" He successfully stood up and marched towards his awards case in his office before turning around, looking stupidly at these two friends, clearly feeling very poetic when he was hysterical.

"He was with me through all of this bullshit." He pointed to his youngest CEO award that he had won over five years ago with Donghyuck by his side. He was so proud to see that bright smile that stood on his face as he watched the love of his life, inform the audience of his hard work and inspiration.

"He was the only one who ever showed up! For crying out loud, he was the only one who thought that I was worth more than squat in this town. He made me feel like loving me was the easiest thing in the world. But I failed him, god dammit," He shoved his glass case holder down, causing it to commence with a loud bang and shattered glass was on the floor.

He muttered as he grabbed some ribbons and medals into his bloodied hand.

"Mark, calm down-" the brunette male started.

"How can I calm down when he left me? I promised to take care of him. To fight for him. But I pushed him away! All because I was to fucking scared." He bellowed.

"Scared of what?" Jaehyun asked as the younger seemed to have finally reached his senses.

"Of failing him. Of ruining who he was. Which I did. He was patient and he worked hard to put our relationship in check. But I was so constantly busting myself to try and forget everything that I forgot about the life he chose to give up for me. Med school, neurology, all was thrown away because he had high hopes that I could achieve more. He always pushed me further than he did himself." He sobbed.

Donghyuck was a bright young mind who had the patience of a saint. He was enrolled at a local university, at the time he got together with Mark, to get into med school. Yet he was forced to go to another university in London where he had received a full ride scholarship, or to stay with Mark and forget all about his dreams. To start from scratch.

That was the last time that Mark drank, until now. He called Donghyuck, who was already at the terminal and begged him to come get him from a bar twenty minutes away. And he did.

"Love get up, come on, I'm going to miss my flight," the younger male said quietly as he was quite embarrassed for his partner.

Such a respectable man was forced to pay incredible prices for the damage he did the night before. Broken glasses, chairs, stoves even!

"Love," he muttered as he could barely stand straight as the smaller male tried to drag him out safely. Failing a few times and dropping the both on the ground.

The last drop was in fresh mud. Which Donghyuck took the blow for scared that his lover would get hurt.

"Come one Mark please get up," he kept mumbling tears threatening his eyes. A ring was heard as well as a groan from the latter who was once again on his knees, face in the ground.

"Hello?" Donghyuck mutters

"Donghyuck the flight is boarding! You have 15 minutes to get here before we leave without you! Where are you even?" The voice of his best friend Chenle was heard ringing throughout the phone.

"I'm almost there, I just have to finish up here-" before the younger could utter another word he was met with liquids rushing out of his loved ones mouth and onto his shirt and pants.

"Are you seriously with Mark right now?!!"

"I just have to make sure that he is okay-"

"Hyuck for once think about yourself. Leaving him will make your life better. He's grown enough. For once put yourself first!" The younger yelled.

The younger thought about what his friend has said. Thinking of all the reasons why leaving Mark, his lover, his soulmate, alone and drunk.

They got outside and Hyuck hailed a taxi.

"Take me to the airport now please," they both got in the cab as it sped off.

Donghyuck was too busy calming his lover and himself down.

"Just this time. I'm going to leave, I'll be back soon. I promise," he muttered into his lover's ear as he replied with mumbles.

As they reached the airport he got out leaving the elder alone leaning on the other side of the door. He had told the taxi driver the address but asked him to wait after he left.

He began walking towards the inside of the airport and was ready to check in, yet the face of what he deemed his lover was plastered all over his face.

Without a second thought he ran out again.

To meet the cab, that stood still, and had his boyfriend staring out the window with tear stains on his face and the driver looking at him pitifully.

"Hyuck you need to calm down," his orange haired friend said as he saw the male physically breaking down.

Ever since he left the house of memories he's been perfect. Well perfect in his mind, which basically meant the opposite.

He has buried himself into his work as a business marketer. He took any and all overtime shifts he could get his hands on. He did extra and if not more work towards each and every project.

He got around three to four projects meant for a span of two months done in a weeks time.

Barely any sleep, no coffee, not much food, and constant insomnia.

Having tried so hard to push away all the sadness and anger that clouded his heart, his mind pushed him to work harder than ever before. Which caused him to be both successful, and miserable at the same time.
