Chapter 4: I am a Hero...?

Sitting at the same table having breakfast together with Katsuki was a whole new experience for Izuku. Back in middle school, being in the same place as Katsuki would result in a lot of shouting and bullying. It's kind of amazing that they can eat together in silent right now, although the mood is really heavy and dark here.

The breakfast Katsuki made is delicious and Izuku can be sure that the blond can compete with a chief from a five stars restaurant. It's amazing but... Izuku won't be praising Katsuki openly for it. The last time he told Katsuki that he's amazing is back when they are still kids. The moment Izuku praised him, Katsuki was pissed about it. The look in the blond's red eyes clearly says, 'I don't need any praises from a quirkless nerd like you'.

Unable to stand the silent anymore, Izuku hesitate for a while before he finally decided to ask the question that has been on his mind. "K-Kacchan, do you know who my mate is?"

"...Yeah." Katsuki said, placing his chopstick down on the table.

"W-where is my mate and what kind of person is-"

"He's a fucking bastard and an asshole."

"Eh?" Izuku blinked.

"He's a shitty Alpha but you always say that you're proud of him and how much you love him." Katsuki added.

Lowing his gaze down to the table, Izuku fidget with his fingers nervously. "Does he... know about my condition?"

Knowing that Izuku's referring to his irregular heat circle and probably how he was born quirkless, Katsuki let out a sigh. It's like the first time they talked about this all over again. However, he'll still repeat the same thing as many times as he needed to.

"He do. But nothing will change the fact that he still love you deeply. Heck, he'd even kill someone for your sake." Katsuki replied.

"T-there's no need for him to go that far for me..." Izuku muttered.

"You said the same thing when I told you that." Katsuki thought.

"Then where is he right now?"

"...He's working oversea." Katsuki lied. He hate lying to his Omega but right now, he don't really have a choice. This is way better than letting Izuku find out that they are mates. Getting up, Katsuki went to the sink to wash the plates. He can feel Izuku's curious eyes on him, probably wanting to ask more questions.

"U-um... can I ask you another question?"

"What the fuck is it?"

"What's my occupation?"

Turning the tap off, Katsuki place the plate down. He wasn't sure if it's a right choice for him to tell Izuku the truth. But then again, if Izuku's happiest memory was locked away because of the quirk, what will happen if Katsuki were to show him something that the 'him' from before would be overjoyed about?

Katsuki can be sure that telling the truth of them being mates will probably stress Izuku out. But telling Izuku the truth about him being a hero is a completely different thing. Being a hero has always been Izuku's dream so it probably won't have any negative effect on him if he were to know.

"Finish your food first. I'll tell you later."

"Oh... okay."

After Izuku finish eating, Katsuki made him wait in the living while he went to get something. When Katsuki return, he was carrying a box with him. Placing the box down on the table, he opens it and Izuku was surprised to see that there are countless of letters from many different people, neatly put away inside the box. Izuku may not remember but Katsuki knows. Every single one of these letters is from the people that Izuku has saved before, as well as his fans and supporters. And half of it are mostly from Omega like Izuku.

"Kacchan, this is...?"

"Read it."

Doing as told, Izuku carefully read through the letters one by one. In most of the letters, many of them are thanking him for saving them. There are some that is cheering him on, as well as some that has messages that says Izuku's their hero. And the two oldest letters was from a child named Kota and Eri. But that was years ago so they must have grown up and is teenagers now. But there are one thing that's strange about these letters.

Why is these people calling him 'Deku'?

Katsuki was hoping that the letters might be able to make Izuku remember something but it seems like it failed. Not only Izuku doesn't remember, he's now confused by it.

"You're a pro hero." Katsuki finally said.

Izuku look up from the letter, staring at Katsuki with a look of disbelieve. "S-sorry... what did you just said? Me? A pro hero...?"

"Yeah."

"B-but I'm... quirkless..." Izuku trailed off and mutter the last part. "How can I be a hero...?"

Katsuki didn't reply. In fact, he feel like shit and is disgusted with himself. This 'Izuku' right now has given up in his dream to become a hero. He believes that he cannot become a hero because he's quirkless. And it was Katsuki himself who beat it into him, both verbally and physically.

"A quirkless loser like you can never become a hero!"

"Give it up, what can a quirkless nerd like you do?!"

Those are the words Katsuki said to Izuku in the past. A very shitty thing for him to say too. If All Might didn't choose Izuku to be his successor, the strong willed 'Izuku' who doesn't give up wouldn't be here. If All Might didn't choose Izuku, he'll give up on being a hero for real and won't even go to UA. And if Izuku didn't get into UA... they won't be able to fix their broken friendship, fall for each other, bonded and mated, become pro hero together or get married.

It's scary that one simple encounter can change so much things.

That aside, it's not like Katsuki can possibly explain to Izuku that he got a quirk from All Might. Telling Izuku that he was given a quirk by All Might right after the sludge villain incident... it sounds pretty hard to believe if Katsuki were to think about it. Not to mention that OFA itself is a very complicated and complex quirk.

Seeing that Katsuki has become silence, Izuku fears that he might have made the blond angry by asking too much questions and quickly lower his head and apologies. "I'm sorry... I asked too much. Sorry if I annoyed you."

Katsuki was surprised to see Izuku apologizing to him. This insecure Izuku isn't the one he knows from UA. He seems so small and fragile that even a simple touch might end up breaking him. How could those missing memories cause such a huge change in Izuku's personality?

Fuck... Katsuki doesn't know how he should communicate with this current Izuku.
