Yeah so I'm pretty sure you're all going to hate me after this... Oops

*Nate’s POV*
I stood at my bedroom window and watched as she walked out of her house with Trent, laughing at something funny he’d said. I loved it when she laughed; the sound of her laughter, the way it lit up her whole face and touched those beautiful blue eyes that captivated me body and soul. She really was the most stunning girl I had ever laid eyes on and I was going to have her no matter what it took. I didn’t care how much effort I had to put in, Alex was worth it and I was going to prove that to her, starting today. I had bitten the bullet and texted her. After two days of staring at her name on my phone I had eventually manned up, I just hoped she would come later. I hoped she would want to see me like I wanted to see her. I needed more than anything to set things straight with her, I couldn’t have her hating me for two whole weeks in New York. I needed her to give me a chance over spring break, so I could win her over.
The car pulled off and finally I tore myself away from the window and down the stairs. I strolled into the kitchen to see my mom sitting at the table sipping on her usual morning coffee, a big genuine smile appearing on her face, one I couldn’t help but return.
“Morning, baby”, she chirped, giving me her proud mom smile as I gave her the usual morning peck on the cheek.
“Morning mom”, I answered, “Can you please stop calling me that? I’m 18 for crying out loud!”
“I don’t care how old you get, you’ll always be my baby”, I mouthed along with her, knowing exactly what she was going to say; I was used to it by now.
She chuckled and shook her head. “Why do you even bother asking when you know what I’m going to say?”
“I love hearing your nagging tone in the morning”, I teased, giving her a hug and heading for the door, grabbing an apple on my way. “Love you, mom.”
“Love you too, baby”, she called after me, an amused tone to her voice. I smiled to myself; I really loved my mom. She might embarrass me on occasion but I didn’t care, she was the best mother in the world. She loved me unconditionally and was always there when I needed her. I could talk to mom about anything; she was cool like that. I didn’t get why Jen and her fought so much; our mom was great! How could you fight with her? It was probably because they were both so alike. Jen was my younger sister. At 16 years of age she was somewhat of a madam. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my sister to pieces, but she really did have her moments. Her and mom argued constantly. They both had such strong personalities and always seemed to rub each other up the wrong way. She was a daddy’s girl through and through and mom seemed to be public enemy number one.
Jen was one of these super talented kids and as a result attended a school for the “exceptionally gifted”. As the braniacs had the week off she had decided to spend it with my grandparents in Tennessee, much to my delight. It was great! She was a pain in my ass most of the time and I really didn’t know how much more of her and mom’s bickering I could take before I strangled her! Murder didn’t exactly look great on a college application, did it?
I jumped into my car, reveling in the quietness of having none of Jennifer’s moaning to listen to on the way to school. Even though she didn’t attend my school, I was still forced to give her a ride every day. I travelled to school in blissful silence, enjoying the feel of the steering wheel in my hands, the rush of adrenalin that spiked through my body as I whizzed down the almost deserted roads on my way to school, something Jen would never let me do if she were around. She might only have been 16, but boy could that girl be a vindictive little bitch when she wanted to! She knew exactly how to play her big brother, that was for sure. She may have been a vindictive little bitch, but she was my vindictive little bitch and I would lay my life on the line for her in a heartbeat.
