I couldn't believe it. Mommy was pregnant. I looked up at daddy but he was frozen still. Mommy says that is what he did when he found out mommy was gonna have me, too. But I hear them talk. Grandma says, "is it possible?" Auntie Alice says, "What! Again? How?" Mommy just looks horrified. "Edward? What is going to happen to me?" She asks daddy. He looks up at mommy. "I don't know, love." He says in a small voice. People leave the room and Grandpa checks mommy over more to be sure he's right. Yes. He is. I run to auntie Rose. I jump into her awaiting arms. "What will happen to Momma?" I ask. "I'm sorry but I don't know, Nessie." She says. I start to cry. Tears run down my cheeks. One by one. My Jacob runs to my side. "Nessie! What's wrong?" He asks. "It's Momma! She's got another baby with her!" I say. "What? Rosalie? Is this all true?" He asks auntie Rose. She nods and fills him in. Jacob takes me in his arms and rocks me. "It's ok, Nessie. I promise your mom will be fine." He says. He looks up at auntie Rose and with the look they gave each other, I can tell they don't know. It hurts. They don't even know if my mommy will be ok. Will she get the baby out? I don't want it! It's hurting mommy! I don't care if she wants it I want what's best for her! And if that's taking the baby away from her so it won't hurt her anymore, then that's that
