Predator: The Ultimate Hunt

Chapter Nine - The Fallen Assassin

As the group was resting in Thailog's hideout, they were awakened by thick smoke. The thick smoke quickly engulfed the room as they struggled to breathe. 

Hidan: What the fuck is going on?! 

At that point, Cormac quickly realized what was going on.

Cormac: It's Thailog! He's a scavenger! He wants what we have!

At that point, the group tried to break through the door. The door proved to be difficult to break.

The Hound: Fucking break, you piece of shit!

Pyrrha: The door won't break! 

Dark Ace looked around the room and saw a fuel tank. Dark Ace quickly grabbed it and positioned it at the door. 

Dark Ace: Bounty Hunter! Take the shot! The rest of you take cover now!

Everyone soon took cover as Cad Bane took the shot at the fuel tank. The resulting explosion resulted in a large explosion, but failed to break down the door. 

Hidan: Well that didn't do fucking shit!

Dark Ace: Of course it didn't! It's supposed to ring the dinner bell! Through the ventilation shaft! Hurry!

Outside the abandoned drill platform, the explosion attracted a group of Predators nearby at the crack of dawn. The group soon exited the room through the ventilation shaft. 

Cad Bane: Area's clear. No sign of Thailog. 

Dark Ace: We need to get out of here before they come! 

Cormac: This place is a bloody maze! We need to split up. I'll take the right path. Ace, you and the others take the left path!

Soon, Cormac took the right path as Dark Ace and the others took the left path. Cormac navigated through the various obstacles using his freerunning skills. Suddenly, he is ambushed by Thailog. 

Thailog: You're quite resourceful for a human. 

Cormac: So I've been told.

Cormac then begins attacking Thailog. The Gargoyle proves to be more powerful then the former Assassin. Cormac attempts to assassinate Thailog with his Hidden Blade, but Thailog grabs his wrist.

Thailog: That's what I hate about you humans. Your arrogance sickens me! 

Cormac attempts to fight back, but Thailog throws him against a nearby wall. Cormac quickly recovers and uses a smoke bomb to cover his escape, but Thailog simply laughs. 

Thailog: Do you think smoke will save you? I'll find you, human. I'll kill you. 

Thailog then begins hunting for Cormac as the former Assassin flanks around Thailog. With his Hidden Blade broken, Cormac had to rely on his sword and dagger. When he saw an opportunity, Cormac lunged from above and attempts to air assassinate the Gargoyle, but Thailog turned around and dug his claws into Cormac's chest. 

Thailog: Do you take me for a fool? I could hear your movements a mile away. 

Cormac coughed up blood as Thailog's claws severely wounded him. Cormac attempts to stab Thailog with his dagger, but Thailog dug his claws deeper into Cormac's chest. 

Cormac: Argh!

Thailog: Disgusting human. And here I thought you put up a fight?

Cormac: You took us in just to kill us and scavenge our possessions!

Thailog: It's survival of the fittest out here. To survive and thrive, you must do what is necessary. You are weak. It's amazing you lot lasted this long!

Thailgo soon threw the wounded Cormac to the ground. The wound in his chest pained him greatly. He looked around to see his discarded grenade launcher. He crawls to it, but the grenade launcher was then destroyed as Thailog stomped it. He then proceeds to beat down the wounded Cormac.

Thailog: I thought you to be the reasonable one. But it seems that I was wrong. You're just as foolish as the rest of them!

Thailog continued to mercilessly beat down Cormac. Cormac's assassin training proved useless against the Gargoyle. As he continues to lose blood, Cormac looks around to try and find something to use against Thailog. He then spots a large beam held together by a strong rope. Behind the beam was small sources of light. He them remembered stories from his childhood about how Gargoyles turned to stone at daytime. Thailog then held Cormac by the throat. 

Thailog: Look at you. Squirming and writhing on the ground like a worm. That's all you humans are. Nothing more than worms. 

Cormac then pulls out his Flintlock Pistol and readies it. 

Thailog: Do you really think that little toy of yours is going to save you from death?

Cormac: If....half the stories I heard about Gargoyles are true......

Cormac aimed his pistol at the rope and shot it. Shooting the rope caused the beam to collapse, unblocking the window. Thailog was soon engulfed in sunlight. 

Thailog: NO!

Before Thailog could react, his body had already begun turning to stone. Cormac freed himself from Thailog's grasp as Thailog turned to stone. As Thailog was reduced to a stone statue, Cormac reached for another Flintlock Pistol and shoots at Thailog, shattering the statue and ultimately killing him. 

Cormac: Finally.....

Cormac clutched to his wound. The wound was great and brought much pain. 

Cormac: I....I need to.....

Before Cormac could finish his sentence, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He was soon lifted into the air by an invisible force. He looked to his chest and saw something stabbing him in the chest. Cormac's assailant soon uncloaked, revealing a Predator. The Predator simply looked onto the wounded Cormac. 

Cormac: Do your worst.....monster.....

Without hesitation, the Predator proceeded to rip out Cormac's head along with his spine. The Predator then roared as he claimed Cormac's head as his trophy. Despite his death, Cormac had bought time for the group to escape from not only Thailog, but the Predators as well.
