[to explain, calum is a junior. i didn't disclose that class ranking yet. and because he transferred from a different country he is a little bit older than a normal junior would be]
[also for the sake of the time line, calum is born in decemeber, not january (his bday would interfere with some days of the story)]

it has been weeks since michael and calum last interacted, and a month since he and luke spoke. the raven haired boy was left to his own vices being that his teacher and the only student he spoke to were his only companions, but he did what he hoped not to and lost them both.
the winter time hit calum strong, he thought the fall was cold but winter was everything he feared for. the roads were icy almost every now and then, causing calum to slip and skid whenever he would walk to the bus stop, he also, besides the coat mr. hemmings bought him, didn't have much winter gear. his vans would be left cold and slushy from walking back and forth from the bus stop to his house, leaving his toes numb. at this moment he missed home, he missed the warm weather, the food, his pretty skin tone he would get after tanning. now the boy was pale all the time.
walking into mr. hemmings class the next following months was the hardest thing ever and for once in calum's life he didn't even speak. not to michael, not to other classmates, not even to answer questions. he was so sure that his participation was lower than ever, but he couldn't care at this point.
soon enough, calum's birthday month came around. the boy was excited to turn eighteen, and maybe, just maybe, luke would look at him again. but how would mr. hemmings even know when the boy's birthday was? all they did was grade papers and fool around, nothing worth getting to know each other.
so calum created a plan. a plan to get friends, other than of course, michael. he began interested in cheerleading. although it wasn't something that was done in greece, he liked the idea of wearing skirts, having a bow in his hair, pom poms and frankly the raven haired boy was somewhat flexible.
so he joined the team. it also helped that calum was good at what he did. and although it was awfully cold, he thanked the school for having indoor cheerleading during the winter time, if anything he would cry and freeze.
soon enough, calum made friends, girl friends if that. he walked around the halls in trios, sometimes in quads, with his new cheer friends, pom poms attached to his bookbag and a bow in his hair always. he was surprised that none of them bullied him, not even the coach batted his eyes at calum's feminine ways. he was a tanned, dark haired non-american with a thick accent waving pom poms and flipping in a skirt, but for everyone else's concern, calum was just like the other girl's.
"my birthday is coming up. december 20th." calum said nonchalantly at the lunch tables, watching as his friends perked up at his voice.
"we have to throw a party for you." one said, batting her eyelashes.
"we can have it at my place, my house is huge." the other said, causing calum to almost roll his eyes. the boy loved attention, so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea.
"it's going to be a surprise, leave it for us to deal with it." the other said.
calum smiled sweetly, although his grin was mischievous in his head. his plan was going to work, he'd be sure of it.

"if you carry over the x and multiply it five you should get five x."
"so my birthday is december 20th." calum half-whispered to a group of his new friends.
"how old are you turning?" one asked, twirling their fingers around their hair.
"18! can't you believe it?" calum giggled as he continued to talk to his group. of course he noticed the now red head listening behind them.
michael knew calum's birthday was coming, he didn't forget. although they hadn't really talked about it, michael spent most of his moments stalking the boy's social handles.
michael missed calum. he missed his accent, his soft skin and his silky black hair. it was an accident and michael knew that. he was just embarrassed. embarrassed that another name was moaned instead of his. he was making him feel good, why didn't he moan his name? michael knew all along of mr. hemmings and calum's little rendezvous so he shouldn't have been that mad.
he missed calum. all he did now was cheer and hang around girls who only wanted to be his friend because he was the way he was. they didn't know calum like michael knew him. they didn't know what he liked, what he didn't like. all they knew was how to flip calum over like a water bottle, that's all they could do.
and even throughout it all, calum was still somewhat the same. still the glowing, talkative, raven haired boy that he remembered meeting at the beginning of the year. still sassy, never rude, just him.
"mr. hood, are you going to continue talking in my class?" mr. hemmings shouted, causing michael's thoughts to crack open as he watched the tan boy's face turn red.
"i-"
"what is so important that you have to interrupt my lesson for?" the blonde man asked, his voice now calmer but still holding weight.
"well, sir, my birthday is coming up. i-i-i'm turning 18!" calum smiled brightly, causing some of the class besides his friends and michael to roll their eyes.
"well, when is it?" luke asked, shifting his weight so now he could be more attentive to the boy.
"the 20th! in five days!" calum smiled.
luke let out a sigh. he wanted to smile. the boy was so sweet, but he did interrupt his lesson.
"great, you'll be spending your time in detention until then." luke smirked, causing calum's face to drop as everyone in the class started to laugh. calum felt his cheeks turn bright red as tears stung in his eyes.
"oh and mr. hood?"
"yes, sir?"
"happy birthday."
