it was starting to become colder and colder in massachusetts. the leaves weren't as green as before, turning a bright red which calum has never encountered. they called it 'fall', but for some odd reason calum felt that this was way colder than what he thought autumn in america would feel like, to him it felt like winter.as the days got colder and the days got shorter, michael offered to bring calum to school everyday, seeing that the boy was usually standing on the side of the road at his bus stop, wearing nothing but his little skirts and a thin wool sweater, bundled up in a homemade knit scarf his mother created upon short notice of the change of weather; but of course calum declined the offer, still suspicious about michael's actions with luke.
so there the boy was, standing at the bus stop by himself, watching cars filled with students zip pass him, his eyes glued to the falling wet leaves, watching them trickle down to his feet in admiration. he was in desperate need of temperate clothing for this season, if it was this cold imagine how bad winter would be.
the pale boy, who was still tanner than most in his school, climbed onto the bus upon its arrival, walking towards the back of it as he sat closest to the inside, cuddling into himself as he looked at his frozen hands, rubbing them together in hopes to generate some heat.
"maybe mister hemmings could buy me some winter clothes." calum thought, tapping his fingers on his soft cold patella before shutting his mind off and keeping his eyes glued out the window.
once he got to school he quickly went to his locker, throwing everything in before seeing a bright fiery red color walk towards him. the boy raised an eyebrow as he saw the familiar pale face in front of him, a smile on his cherry red lips.
"hey, aphrodite." michael smiled, leaning against the boy's locker causing calum to close it and look down at your feet.
"what do you want?" calum snickered, grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder as he made his way to math, of course michael following him.
"hey, wait. what's wrong? why are you being so distant?" michael asked, making calum roll his eyes before stopping in his steps, turning to face him. and that's when calum felt it, the word vomit, the blurting, he just couldn't keep his big mouth shut.
"i know you're jealous of me because i have mr. hemmings- well guess what? i like the attention he gives me and whether you like it or not, i'm gonna keep at it." calum seethed, making michael raise an eyebrow.
"jealous? jealous how?" michael asked, raising an eyebrow as he folded his arms against his chest, glaring at the little boy in front of him.
"mr. hemmings told me everything! how you've had a little crush on him since the beginning and ever since he's been paying more attention to me, you've been telling me all this bull to keep me away from him!" calum whined, stomping his foot. around this time people started to hypothetically gather around, showing interest into the conversation.
"calum- that's not tru-"
"whatever, we're gonna be late." calum said before turning on his heels and stomping off to class. once the two got there, calum sat in his regular seat, hoping michael would choose a different seat which he definitely didn't.
"okay class, today we are going to be reviewing our unit for the test tomorrow, i'll be giving you a packet- do what you can from it. if you have any questions, ask." mr. hemmings spoke, walking around to hand out papers to the students, giving michael time to talk to calum.
