Misery and Miracles

"What? Lee KILLED you." I yelled at the boy. "No he didn't. He couldn't do it, just like my dad." The boy told me. "Well, either way Duck, how are you alive? How did you survive?" I asked. "I could be saying the same thing to you, Clementine. But anyways, I'll tell you later. We should go head back to the group." Duck answered.
We walked back to the group, Duck following behind me. We went up to the front door of our cabin and slowly crept in, not making a sound. Lee was sat at the kitchen table. Duck stayed by the front door while I approached Lee. I told Lee what had happened, yet he didn't believe me. I literally dragged him over to the front door and Lee just stared at Duck, astonished. We then came up with a plan on how to surprise Kenny. We decided that Lee would talk Kenny into sitting at the table and I would slowly walk up to the kitchen, not saying a word. Then Duck would enter. Trust me, it'll sound better when we actually do it.

Kenny sat at the kitchen table, Duck and I still hiding. Lee sat down next to him. Now it was my time to shine. I carefully walked over to the table, a visible smirk on my face. "Whatcha smiling at Clem?" Kenny asked me. I kept quiet and sat down opposite from Lee, and said; "THIS." Then Duck walked out, a huge dopey grin on his face. "How you doing dad?" Duck asked Kenny. "Duck? My boy!" Kenny yelled, tears welling in his eyes. He jumped up from his chair and hugged Duck like there was no tomorrow. Lee and I exchanged high-fives. Maybe, in this zombie-ridden world, it's not all just misery, it comes with miracles too.
