Melody shut her locker after collecting the books needed for her next class. Her next class was with Alastair and the thought of that put her a little more at ease.
Just as she turned around to head to class, her books were knocked out her arms and onto the ground. She didn't bother looking up for she already knew who the culprit was. Sighing, she bent down to grab her books wordlessly, not wanting to start anything and hoping to get to class without any trouble.
Before she could grab anything, her books were kicked to the other side of the hallway as other angels gathered around the scene.
"What do you want?" She asked her the group of angels which consisted of Drake, Oliver, and Olivia.
"Oh, I just wanted to check in on my favorite angel," replied Olivia with a smirk. "Tell me, Melody, did you get your wings yet? Or did you realize you're just a failure who'll always be the pathetic excuse of the angel she's supposed to be?" Some of the angels snickered, eager for the drama to unfold.
"Not yet," answered Melody in a small voice, going along with her bullies to get the encounter over with.
"Sad, no wonder your mother didn't stick around-"
Olivia was shoved to the flour before she could finish her sentence. A fuming Melody stood over her with clenched fists as gasps sounded around the hallway.
"Do not mention my mother! It's none of your business and it will never be so stay out of it!" Melody yelled with the sudden rush of power she felt.
That rush soon died down as Oliver gripped her wrists tightly and shoved her against the lockers harshly. "Don't you dare lay a hand on my sister ever again. Do you understand me?"
Melody felt herself shrink with Oliver towering over her as she cast her eyes downward.
Oliver gripped her chin harshly and forced her to look into his eyes. "I said, do you understand?" His tone of voice frightened her as she barely managed to nod in his tight grip.
"Good, now apologize to my sister." He forced her to look over at Olivia who was helped up by Drake.
Melody gulped down her fear. "I-i'm sorry." Her eyes darted everywhere, wanting this situation to end.
Oliver didn't stop at that, he gripped her hair making her scalp burn and pulled her face right up to his. "Try that shit ever again and we won't go easy on you."
A loud, menacing growl startled everyone as their focus shifted to a furious Alastair making his way through the crowd.
Oliver smirked. "Oh look who's come to the rescue. Your demon friend who-"
Alastair sent a punch straight to Oliver's nose. His eyes glowed a terrifying red which shook the angels to their cores. He pushed him to the ground and delivered blow after blow to his face.
"Never. Touch. My. Girl. Ever. Again." He growled out between each punch.
Melody was too terrified to intervene-everyone was-and frankly, she didn't want to. They're getting what they deserve.
After Alastair felt like he did enough damage, he got off of a bloodied Oliver and turned to the rest of the crowd. "If any of you think about touching her, hell, even saying anything bad to her, ever again, I will make sure you have the same fate as your dear friend here."
He let out another warning growl before grabbing Melody and dragging her out of the school.

Alastair sat against a tree with Melody leaning against his chest. He had flown her to their meet up place; it was beautiful unclaimed territory between heaven and hell. They had discovered this clearing long ago and always used it as their secret hangout space.
Melody played with the grass underneath her, waiting for Alastair to calm down before talking to him. Looking up at him, she saw his eyes closed and his head relaxed backwards. She reached out and touched his cheek softly, urging him to look into her eyes.
His eyelids opened to reveal stormy blue eyes with a hint of red near the irises. "Are you okay?"
He sighed before grabbing her hand and gently stroking it with his thumb. "You're asking me if I'm fine? After all what happened to you?"
Melody smiled. "My scalp hurts a bit but other than that I'm perfectly okay."
As soon as Melody said that, Alastair threaded his fingers through her hair and gently massaged her scalped. She hummed in delight and melted against him. "You shouldn't have beaten him up that hard, you're going to get into so much trouble." She immediately felt bad for being the reason he's going to get into trouble.
Alastair growled. "Well, they shouldn't have touched you to begin with. If they ever pull a stunt like that ever again, I swear-'
"Shh, let's not let them ruin our day any further. Let's just forget about it while we can before we have to go back and deal with that mess." Melody cut him off as soon as she felt him start to get a little angrier.
She felt his tensed body relax and let out a relieved breath. "Thank you for standing up to me," she said in a timid voice as a blush coated her cheeks.
Alastair smiled wordlessly even though she couldn't see him "Anything for my best friend." He ruffled her hair before standing up abruptly, pulling Melody with him, and unfurling his wings. "Now shut up and let me take you on a ride."
Melody shrieked and erupted into a fit of laughter as Alastair boost their bodies into the air and twirled her around between the clouds.
A hint of color appeared on Melody's cheeks as she recalled what he had called her earlier. My girl.
