Lucifer himself was sitting a mere ten feet away.

Melody and Alastair's hands were bound behind their backs and they were forced on their knees by the guards who finally caught up to them.

"Al." Melody's trembling voice came out as a whisperer as she glanced at her best friend.

"Mel, it's okay, I won't let them hurt you." Alastair reassured as he struggled against his captor's hold. "Let her go it wasn't her fault, it was my idea. Punish me." He tried to turn to the guards but his head was forced back down.

"No, no, please. Please we promise not to do it again but please don't hurt us." Melodys voice cracked as she begged with tears spilling out of her orbs. "Please, were just kids and we were being stupid and weren't thinking and-"

"Shut up."

"Okay." She whispered and hung her head.

"Sir, we found them in one of the rooms-" The guards tried to explain.

"I said. Shut. Up." Lucifer's voice boomed in the empty room. "Leave us." He waved his hand.

"But sir-"

"I said leave." Lucifer's eyes flashed red and it was all that took to make the guards rush out.

Melody could feel the power radiating from his voice and cowered to herself.

After the guards left and shut the door behind them, Lucifer got up from his nonchalant position in his throne. As his approaching footsteps echoed in the room, Alastair finally looked up at the devil.

Electric blues identical to his stared straight back at him, looking taken aback at the resemblance. Lucifer felt a twinge of emotion as he stared at the kneeling boy at his feet. A blooming sentiment blossomed in his heart and he felt as if a part of him was restored.

Shaking away the feeling, he cleared his throat. "Can you two explain what you were doing in my palace with no authorized access?" He glared at the two kids.

"Yes sir, uhm, your highness, uh," Melody blinked her tears away and took a deep breath. "We had a school project and had to visit a place and report about it and it had to be rare and we thought of coming here but didn't think it through and-"

Lucifer took a whiff of the air. "You're an angel?!" He stood right in front of a trembling Melody, staring at her angrily with red lining his eyes.

"Yes." Melody managed to whimper out before breaking down in a fit of sobs. "Please don't kill me." She hid her face behind her hands and cried.

Lucifer sighed and his eyes changed back to their icy blue color. "Get up."

Melody stumbled over her own feet as she rushed to stand from her kneeling position. Alastair immediately followed suit, ready to protect his best friend at any sudden movement.

Her heart raced as she stared at the eyes of the devil, wondering if he was going to just kill her and get it over with.

"Stop crying." She wiped at her tears but couldn't stop her shaking. "I'm not going to hurt you." She nodded at his words.

"I'm letting you two go." Melody breathed out in relief. "Thank you sir-"

"No word about this to anyone. Those pesky angels would think I've gone soft." He turned his back to them and made his way to his throne. "You're lucky I'm having an off day."

"An off day?" Melody asked absentmindedly.

"Yes an off day." He growled at her which caused Alastair to pull her behind his back and growl back, red swirling in his eyes.

Lucifer averted his attention to Alastair. "You've got some courage, kid." He stared at his red-blue eyes, wondering why they look so familiar. "Leave before I change my mind." He sat back at his throne.

As if on cue, the guards re-entered the throne room.

"Escort them outside. They know the rest of the way out." The guards clasped their hands around the two's arms and guided them outside. Alastair's eyes locked with the Devil's one last time before the doors shut behind them.

Lucifer tucked his hands in his pockets and strolled through the empty hallway, sighing in exhaustion. His life has been nothing but empty the past eighteen years. He drowned in his own darkness and guilt, wishing he had treated his mate better before she was taken away from him.

Noticing the door of the room open, he was startled out of his thoughts, rushing inside for the first time in eighteen years.

We found them in one of the rooms.

"No, no, no." He whispered to himself as he switched the lights on and frantically searched the room to ensure nothing was missing. After making sure everything was in place, he allowed his hammering heart to calm down and his lungs to fill with air.

Looking around the room, he smiled knowing this was the exact same room they shared before she was taken. The only difference was the dust that covered the room which had been building up throughout the years of neglect.

A picture on the floor drew his attention, and he picked it up with trembling hands. His mate smiled back at him through the photo, her eyes lit up with happiness. Moving to the closet, he picked up a piece of clothing and held it to his nose, taking in the homey scent of his significant other.

Tears welled up in his stormy eyes and he sat at the edge of the bed, allowing his emotions to break his cold exterior. Oh, what he'd do to have her back in his arms.

Just as he was falling asleep, an object on the bedside counter caught his attention. Picking it up warily, he was shook to find out it was a pregnancy test.

And it was positive.
