Hoseok was driving to his house after his meeting, he thought of all the possibilities that laid before him on why Kim Namjoon would help out in such a thing. He knew he had to be careful with who and what he was doing. He knew about the boy now and he knew exactly what to do. Once he got home he figured that he would try and relax about the situation. Hoseok's house was huge, whenever people would come over they would be stunned that he lived here by himself. He was used to living alone however so the silence never bothered him. He really liked it. People from the media always like to assume that he brought people over to his house just so he could sleep with them. They got the wrong brother, that was more of Jimin's thing than Hoseok's. "Mr Jung, you're home early. Should I get dinner ready?" The maid asked from the kitchen. Hoseok really did not like her cooking but she was high in demand and there was a bet he knew about online that if he were to fire her it would make people assume he's gay. So he was caught in a bit of a pickle because he knew the word would go around. He tried to stay away from her as much as he could or have her working very little.
"Uh, I'm fine actually. You can go home if you'd like. I'm staying in for the rest of the night."
"Oh, well okay then. Will I be able to work more hours next week?" She asked looking around, he noticed this and rose an eyebrow at her.
"Why do you want more hours? To spy on me?" He was just being facetious but she grew pale shocked that he found out. He noticed this and stood up. "Are you actually spying on me?"
"I'm so sorry! I was asked to come here on a bet!" She bowed in remorse for what she had done.
"I'm pretty sure I know what bet. That's the only reason you kept your job." He said back.
"Are you really gay?? I have to know!" Hoseok grew annoyed by the media swarming him about his sexuality. He honestly didn't know why it was such a big deal to other people on who he loved.
"I'll make myself clear, I am not gay. I will gladly demonstrate that." He brought her in for a kiss, the kiss had no meaning for him but the girl took it completely different. "So I hope thay proved to you that I am not gay. While you're here can you tell me why that's so important for everyone to know?"
"Because you're you. You are a well respected man, businessman. People care who you are."
"It shouldn't matter though on who I decide to love. Got that?" She nodded her head and bit her lip. "Now, you may leave and please never come back because you have lost your job. Thank you, please leave. He showed her to the door and she left after that. Hoseok went up to his room which looked much different than the rest of his house. It had a whole new feel to it. The walls were painted, or more or less had multicolored paint splatters on it with very modern furniture. He found it relaxing to be in his room knowing this is as personal as it gets. Anybody who would come up here would automatically know. He had paintings of homosexual individuals in his closet. He sat down on his bed and put his cup of tea on his bedside table. He looked on his computer to see some malicious comments towards him regarding his sexuality and what he was doing with Kim Namjoon. His eyebrows furrowed as he looked down further to see a man who resembled him very well kissing another man. He knew he never kissed anybody in public places. He wasn't dumb. Things were getting too out of hand, he knew he had to make a statement.
His phone rung and he looked to see it was Jungkook probably telling him not to look online. "Hello?" He answered.
"Boss? Yes uh there are some pretty malicious comments about you, our legal team is taking care of the situation, don't worry so much okay?"
"Jungkook, I've seen them. This has gotten out of hand. I plan on making a statement tomorrow at noon, could you arrange that for me? I'll be at the office soon." Hoseok was about to hang up when Jungkook got his attention not to.
"Boss you can't come here, there are some people out here asking for answers and some of them have huge signs that say, 'tell us the truth' so I don't think you should come tonight."
Hoseok sighed knowing something was off, two hours ago there was nothing about the matter. One girl couldn't get everyone this riled up. "Ah okay. Who do you think is behind this all?"
Jungkook let out a sigh of his own probably brushing through his hair, "I don't know boss. This popped up in thin air. It's unclear who started this."
Hoseok got up and looked out his window that gazed upon the city to see headlight after headlight. How could something like this be so important to people who aren't him? "I want people on this case and I want whoever started this in my office with me as soon as you can. Let everyone know that they need to stay calm but work diligently and discreetly. Okay?"
"Yes boss!" Jungkook hung up first and let the workers know what Hoseok had to say to them.
"Mr Jung is telling the truth correct?" One lady asked. Jungkook didn't know how to respond to that because whatever he did say would be a lie either way.
"I can promise you that what he does is for the best. That's all I am allowed to say. Please don't take what I said seriously or to heart. Mr Jung is under some rough pressure at the moment so all I can say is that there's a reason for everything. Okay?"
"So he is?" She asked.
"Ma'am, I'm not allowed to say, you can talk to Mr Jung as soon as he comes in tomorrow morning at seven thirty in the morning."
"Okay..." She gave a small smile and went back to her seat. Jungkook watched over everyone until it was time for them to go home.
"Thank you for your hard work today everyone, we really appreciate this." Jungkook gave a bow and smile. Hoseok was up through the night wondering how he should go about things the next day. He would have to tell them the truth. But what would that do to the people who trusted him, the people who have business with him, the company he owned with people who needed a job? How would what he say effect them? He couldn't go on lying anymore with these scandals. Was he ready to loose that respect he once had? Had people known this and treated him the same regardless without him knowing? He couldn't stand the thoughts anymore and he left his house to the dance studio that helped him clear his mind. He walked out after getting dressed and started dancing. Another male figure came up beside him and watched him dance. "You must really be into dance to be here at such late hours, what's up with you?" He looked over and it was the same boy from before.
"Why do you care all of the sudden?" He asked the other giving a small smirk.
"Because I've seen the news. You dance so well and I also like dancing so I think or I thought we could be friends." Hoseok looked into the boy's eyes and gave a small smile.
"Alright, fine. But only if you tell me one thing." Hoseok said sitting down leaning back a little.
"Ask away."
"You're gay too aren't you?"
"How did you know?"
"Because, I seen it in your eyes and the fact that you come here too much to be called straight. That and I have resources."
"Well what you're going through is just terrible." The boy said shyly now that Hoseok knew the rest wasn't hard to guess.
"Well it's not great. I've been in this situation before though. People have to know don't they?"
"Yeah I guess they do."
"I have to leave now. It was good talking to you today." Hoseok went to get changed as the boy waited for him back in the studio where he knew there were no cameras.
"One last thing Hoseok." The boy said signaling the other to come closer. Hoseok went over to him and the boy took his lips in his. Hoseok was shocked that he had done that out of the blue. Did Taemin really like him that much? Hoseok felt his hands go to Taemin's waist and the kiss ended as quickly as it started leaving both boys a bit dazed and confused. "I hope this doesn't make things awkward. I've known about you for a long time and I know you know about me. So let's get to know each other for who we really are and start something."
"Taemin, I don't have anything against you. But right now I really have a lot of stuff going through my head. Let me take care of this whole scandal before I discuss anything else with you about this. That man in the picture wasn't even me."
"Okay. Take your time. I'll wait for you."
"Thank you." He smiled and walked out of the studio with the same gracefulness he had when he came in.
It was the next day and Hoseok showed up at the company early to do his best to not get caught up in news media outlets. "It's clear boss." Jungkook said getting out of the car walking with Hoseok to the building. Hoseok went up to his office and sat down looking at a bunch of photos, none of the photos were him. He still did not know what he was going to say. Was he going to come out to everyone or will he keep it from them all again? The same lady who talked with Jungkook the day before came up to his office.
"Hello Mallory, what do you need?" He asked leaning back in his chair.
"Boss, I need to know the truth and you know about what."
Hoseok sighed and gave her a nod to sit down, she did as she was told and gave him a small smile. "The truth is yes. I am. I just don't know how to go about this. I'm taking into consideration of everyone who works here and those who do business with me, all of who could be effected by what I say today."
"Mr Jung, with all due respect, I think you should tell the public. It's beginning to be more normalized and people want to know because I'm pretty sure they would support you." She handed him her phone with a whole bunch of media outlets saying on how much a positive impact it could be. Hoseok read more in depth and realized that he hasn't been fair to those who look up to him or who trust him.
"So you think I should come clean?" Hoseok asked Mallory.
"Yes, I don't have anything against you, I know people in the office don't either because they are constantly talking you up and they kinda already guessed because of the way you hold yourself and how you look. It's nothing bad, it just makes people wonder all the time. So I would."
Another worker entered his office with paperwork, "Is it okay for me to come in?"
"Yes, you may come in." Hoseok motioned her over to his desk. "What is all of that?"
"Papers, Kim Namjoon is the one who started these rumors but with a fake account, all the information is right here."
"Thank you Michelle. You may go now."
"Yes sir." She bowed and left the room. Hoseok looked through the papers that were just given to him, all the evidence led back to a breaker phone purchased with the same sim ID number that belonged to Kim Namjoon. Hoseok still had the recording of Namjoon telling his plan.
"Jungkook, I want the legal team on this right now. Kim Namjoon went too far."
"Yes boss." He said leading Mallory out of the room and going to the legal team. Hoseok went on his phone to see some people lighten up about the whole scandal. He even read where some people made stories about him.
"We support you!" "You can do it!" He looked around some more and found another business in the area that was wanting to collaborate. He looked around more to see positive feedback. The time came and the podium was all set for Hoseok as he walked out with Jungkook, a stack on papers in his hand. He stood up on the podium and cleared his throat.
"Hello and good afternoon everyone. My name is Jung Hoseok and I am the CEO of Jung's Company Group. Due to the recent scandal against my name I am making a statement to you all today with some information as well. First, I'd like to address that the photo leaked online was not of myself. I was never there and I don't know who the other person is. I am aware now of who started this scandal and legal action is being taken care of at this moment. I want to assure you all that nothing serious has been done to the two individuals in that video for I know that's something people don't want shared. Secondly I would like to say myself that I am gay. This has no effect with my work, nor will it ever. This doesn't disturb anything I'm currently doing and again, it never will. So please know that nothing will change due to this. It's quite nerve racking being up here telling you all such a personal thing. However, what is done is done and I hope for your support and understanding during this time. Thank you very much." Hoseok stepped to the side of the podium and gave a bow. "You may ask any questions you please."
One reporter came up to the microphone, "Mr Jung, I don't know if you know this or not but many companies have went out of business after an announcement like this."
"Yes, I am aware of this. I have thought about everyone who works at my company and those whom I do business with. I hope and trust in that this won't be an issue. I know it can definitely change the way you look at a person but I'm hoping that I still get the same respect as any other person. Thank you for your question."
"Mr CEO, how long have you known your sexuality? Answer if you are comfortable."
"I don't care to get into that, no but I know that it's always been apart of me."
"Do you have a secret lover?"
"I don't care to get into that either if that's alright with you. I was more or less hoping for questions that were about business. If that's all the questions, I'll take my leave."
"Should people still want to do business with you?"
"Absolutely, there is no reason that they can't. Again, nothing will change. Nothing ever will. So I ask that you keep an open mind about things. Thank you." It was the end of the press conference and Hoseok went back up to his office where he found multicolored balloons and banners everywhere. "What is all of this?" He asked to the employees who were in there.
"We wanted to let you know that we are proud of you!"
"Well I didn't need anything this big. Thank you but could we please take this down? I'm not really one for that kind of stuff." He showed an apologetic smile and they knew that it was probably too soon to be doing anything like this. They took down everything leaving his office the way they found it. In his defense he basically told the world something too personal for his own liking.
"Cheer up boss!" One girl cheered. Hoseok flashed a smile at her and sat down at his deskt and took his phone out dialing Namjoon's number.
"I thought I made myself clear Mr Kim. I told you if you were to ever leak what we talked about that I would pursue legal action against you. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"I told you we should have worked together on that investment. You didn't listen to me so look what happened. You were forced to expose yourself. Such a disgrace." He clicked his tongue. "You had so much respect Mr Jung, why would you throw that all away?"
Hoseok took a sharp breath and motioned Jungkook to leave, he waited until the door closed behind him to continue. "I'm the disgrace? You can't take no as an answer and you even told me your plan that gives me more leverage on you now. Who I am attracted to should never effect my work. I don't give a shit about other people's opinions, I'll have you know. I threw nothing away, I gained in this by telling the truth."
"Now now now Mr Jung, don't get so worked up about this. I can take no as answer but from you I can't because I have more experience than you in this business."
"Really? Really now? I'm older than you, I started when I was only seventeen, while you started at the age of twenty. When I already had two years under my belt. Enjoy this while you can, because you won't be doing well after my legal team is done." Hoseok hung the phone up and let out a sigh of frustration. He hoped that things would go back to normal soon.
