I sprung up off of the couch and leapt towards Marianna. Grabbing her arm, I dragged her into the bathroom and locked the door. "Where the fuck have you been?"

She started to giggle.

"Why are you laughing Marianna? I saw you with Jasper, I need answers," I whispered angrily.

"Okay, I know it looks like I'm a homewrecker," she held her hands up in defense before continuing, "but actually, I was just crossing something off of my list."

My jaw literally hit the floor as realization dawned on me. "No fucking way. With Jasper and Raven?" She nodded truthfully. "I'm still so confused."

"Okay, listen," her voice dropped. "When we were in grade ten, right when they started dating, Raven walked in on Jasper trying to make a move on me. We were all drunk in his basement and she had gone to use the bathroom. Instead of getting all mad, she joined in."

"You dirty bitch!" I gasped enthusiastically.

"It was just that one time, but we didn't go all the way. Until Halloween."

"But that doesn't explain why you have been acting so weird around Jasper lately,"

She took a seat on top of the counter as I sat on the toilet. "Bitch, let me tell you. That first time was fucking horrible. Like, I can't even explain how bad it was. Raven ended up passing out after about five minutes, and Jasper was just being so awkward."

I laughed whole-heartedly. "I'm sorry but that's actually hilarious. What about when he picked you up from the club?"

"You saw that?" she asked. She took my nod as a signal to continue, "They just finished their couple's night thing and they wanted to try again. Now that, that time was perfect."

"I can't believe you never told me! I actually hate you!" I squealed.

Marianna put her hand on my arm comfortingly. "Babe, trust me I wanted to, but after Halloween I had PTSD."

I burst out laughing. God, if the others heard me they were probably wondering what the hell could have been so funny. "Is that what you guys were doing all day?" She nodded. "All damn day Marianna!?"

"To be honest with you," she leaned in close, "I think they both just wanted to see what it would be like with a black girl."

At this point, I was near tears. I couldn't believe that my mind automatically just assumed the worst. When we calmed down, I pushed the bathroom door open, and walked down the hall to the living room, my best friend not far behind. I snuggled up in the spot next to Reece and when Mari shot me a look, I mouthed, "Bitch, I'll tell you later."

"You guys took so damn long, we could have finished a whole movie without you," Reece huffed.

I placed my hand on his thigh to quiet him down. "I'm sorry, we just needed to have a bestie chat quickly."

He relaxed under my touch as I noticed Andre across the room watching my hand. Talk about awkwardness. I grabbed a blanket from the basket next to me and draped it over our laps.

After watching a comedy movie, we took a break to fill up on snacks. "Mal, can you help me with the popcorn and chips?" asked Andre as he made his way back to the kitchen.

I hopped up and happily obliged. While he put a bag of popcorn in the microwave, I began to refill the chip bowls. We stood in silence for a moment, the buzzing of the microwave filling the silence. Suddenly, he turned towards me.

"You and Reece, huh?" he said casually.

Screwing the top back on my bottle of Sprite, I continued to avoid eye contact. "No commitment. No feelings." It was like that was our slogan.
