As I walked down the corridor searching for my class, three girls were running up the corridor towards me and they sure didn't look like they were going to slow down.

Uh oh!

Please don't crash into me!

You know what? Never mi—

Thump!

Yeah... They crashed into me... And we were laying on the floor like shattered glass.

But the crazy part – they were laughing. And unknowingly, I was too. I guess it wasn't so bad after all. So, we helped each other up (we were still laughing) and dusted the imaginary dust off us.

These girls seemed nice and crazy like me. One was a brunette like me and seemed confident; the second had dark blonde hair and she looked like the person who held all the knowledge in the world and the third one had bleached blonde hair and let me tell you how classy she looked.

The first to speak was the dark blonde girl, "OMG! You're the girl who dragged Noah!" She seemed all bubbly and happy about it.

To which I said, "Noah?"

"The boy you dragged against the locker," said the brunette.

Ahhh.. so that's his name.

"That was so cool. He totally deserved it. I'm Brianna by the way," said the girl with the bleached blonde hair. "And these are Melissa and Sophia," gesturing to the brunette and dark blonde girls respectively.

"Yeah I am that girl. I guess that's why I did it. Oh! And I'm Becca. It's nice to meet y'all."

"So nice to meet you too, Becca. Sorry we crashed into you, but it's kinda our thing to do every year. We run and slide down the corridor just for fun and this is the last time we can do it so.." This was Melissa.

"No it's okay. You guys look like a lot of fun. But I should really get to class. If you don't mind could you tell me where English class with Mrs. Davis is?"

And this time Sophia spoke, "What? No way! I have her class too. You can come with me. This is the only class I don't have with Mel and Bri. Now we can be each other's company. And please call me Soph." She takes my hand and pulls me to class and we waved at the other two girls who headed the opposite way.

We eventually reach class, but something's really off about the whole classroom environment... It seemed weird. Anyway, we found two places towards the back of the class and as Soph likes to call it her "usual spot". I honestly didn't mind. After I made myself comfortable on the seat, I realised what was off about the class. There were hardly any boys. Only four or five of them. No wonder it felt weird. So I asked Soph, "Why is this class like 90% girls?"

"That's because all the boys, I mean most of the boys have practice for the various sports they play. But it's mostly the Football, Soccer and Basketball boys."

"So they get to miss classes?"

"Yeah. It's always like this. Same thing, different boys. Besides they've been doing it for a week now. This is the second week. But you wouldn't know coz this is your first day. I'll help you get through all of this. Don't worry Becca, it's not gonna be that bad. Trust me."

Everyone went silent as the teacher walked in.

Woah....

This is gonna sound crazy but "Mrs. Davis" looked only a few years older than us and more importantly she looked like a Victoria's Secret model right off the runway.

I mean seriously what is wrong with this school and it's faculty. It's like there's no one above the age of 40 here!

While I was too busy caught up in my thoughts, she walked up to my desk and gently pat my shoulder to get my attention. She spoke with a sweet smile playing on her lips.

"Ah. You must be the new girl. Why don't you introduce yourself to the class and tell us about yourself and what your recently read book was?"

Her voice was so angelic. How could I refuse her! She was being sweet, so I walked to the front of the class and introduced myself.

"Hi. My name is Rebecca Dawson. I used to live here in L.A. then shifted to NYC and now I'm back here in L.A. to finish high school. As for the book I've recently read, it's To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee." I end with a smile to seem kind and respectful.

"Very well then Ms. Dawson, welcome to Cloverfield and wish you luck for your senior year. Thank you. Please return to your seat." And I do.

"Okay class, let's open to page 30 of your books. You need to complete the first 5 writing exercises by the end of this week and submission is the Monday that follows. I suggest you start now because all of you will be too busy partying during this weekend due to homecoming and all of that jazz that the schools do nowadays. Also one more thing, you are dismissed. Go be free but complete your assignment. It counts for 15% of your grade this semester. See you kids tomorrow."

And just like that she walked out of class with no care in the world. Cool teacher I think.

After English class, I managed to find my way to the Computer Lab where the teacher didn't even show up so it was a free class too. This school is crazy! No one cares about academics apparently. I mean I don't mind but I've never seen academic negligence to this extent. So I decide to roam the campus and figure out where all the classes and facilities are and just get some fresh air and maybe find Soph, Mel and Bri.

Exploring the school's campus brought me to the one place I was excited to see: the Football Field. It was the most beautiful field I had ever seen. My brothers always spoke about how it made you seem like a professional NFL player by just looking at it. Imagine playing on this beauty. I can't wait to practice and play here after school!

Since there was nothing to do, I go to the bleachers and find a good viewing spot so I can assess each of the players. After all they were going to be my teammates. Not like they know about/of me. I watch as they discuss their plays in a huddle and Coach keeping an eye on them intently.

It was peaceful until I heard laughing and a "Becaaaaaaaaaaa! There you are. We've been searching for you everywhere." It was Bri, shortly followed by Mel and Soph taking their seats next to me.

"Ah, so you're a Football kinda girl Becca. Come to watch the boys practice eh?" I could tell she was only joking so I just smiled and said, "It's an interesting game and it was the only place not thronging with people. And it's actually quite peaceful here."

They burst out laughing.

Something tells me that these people are gonna be with me till the end of time. I push away my thoughts and laugh with them.

Suddenly a deafening sound rang through the air causing all of us to freeze where we were. Even the players on the field froze in whatever positions they were in. Then the three enthusiastic girls seated next to me, yelled in unison at the top of their lungs,

"LUNCHTIME!!!"

To say I lost the sense to hear is an understatement because that shook me to the core and I don't think my brain will function the same way again.

"So, do all the teachers cut you some slack and not teach during the week of homecoming?"

"You really don't know how this school works do you? Let me tell you Becca. We'll answer all your questions. But first let's get out of here before we get into trouble. RUN!!"

Please vote and comment. I feel encouraged to write more. I am open to suggestions as well
