Note: Let's pretend that in this fanfic, Muzan's voice changes to match that of his different appearances when he shapeshifts.
A vast, open field of blooming flowers. Sakura leaves swayed along with the wind, and the beautiful singing of birds played a beautiful scenery in Tanjiro's maroon eyes.
Contently leaning his back against Giyuu's own, he closed his eyes and inhaled the lovely scent of spring.
It felt like a burst of euphoria.
Neither spoke, but both being beside each other was far more than enough.
For a minute, Tanjiro felt his legs almost go numb, so he leaned to the side to stretch them...
"Woah!" Only to have Giyuu fall backwards, his head landing on his lap.
"Oh gosh- I'm so sorry, Tomioka-san!" As expected, he sincerely apologized.
His kindess sure is something, Giyuu would think. He has never seen anyone as kind as him- let alone experience it- aside from Oyakata-sama, of course.
He looked up at him with a questioning look, then chuckled.
He reached a hand out and stroke the younger boy's soft cheek, smiling lovingly.
"You're so cute, Tanjiro. You apologize even for the smallest of things."
This earned an embarrassed look from the other, and he laughed slighlty.
Giyuu took something from beside him- a flower crown, and reached up to place it on Tanjiro's head.
"How cute..." He muttered, more to himself.
"You.. you made this for me, Tomioka-san?"
He nodded.
"Thank you... and guess what?" Tanjiro reached out for something beside him, and to Giyuu's surprise, it was another flower crown.
"I made one for you too!" He grinned ear to ear and gently placed it on Giyuu's head.
A hue of pink tinted the water pillar's cheeks. This did not go unnoticed by the soon-to-be sun pillar, who immediately pointed it out.
"Tomioka-san's blushiiiing!" He teased and giggled, poking his face repeatedly. In turn, Giyuu ruffled him on the head.
"I'll get you back."
They shared a hearty laugh. Everything was perfect- but not all things stay untouched forever.
Tanjiro's surroundings turned dark. He wasn't standing on anything, but he wasn't falling either. All he can see is a void, and a light illuminated only a portion of the void where he stood.
Giyuu suddenly appeared right in front of him, his backed turned. He seemed to be staring at nothing...
"Tomioka-san?" Tanjiro called out.
The Water Pillar turned to him, and Tanjiro caught a whiff of strong guilt radiating from Giyuu.
What was he guilty for?
Why was he looking at Tanjiro like that?
"I'm sorry, Tanjiro." He sighed with tears threatening to fall at any given moment.
"Tomioka-san, w-why are you apologizing?"
Before he could answer his question, he ran towards the darkest part of the void away from Tanjiro.
