Tanjiro awoke at the smell of blood. He sat upright and rubbed his eyes.
He knew something was wrong. There always is when there's the smell of blood. When realization struck him, his eyes widened.
Muzan.
Quickly, he scrambled off bed and rushed outside his room.
There were multiple walls and rooms, but he could pinpoint the metallic scent of blood.
So he followed, and soon he was face to face with a door isolated from the rest.
"Muzan?" He called. There was no answer.
"I'm coming in."
He opened the door, and was immediately hit by an abnormal amount of blood scent. He had to cover his nose to keep himself from vomitting.
There was no one around, but then he noticed the amount of splattered blood on the floor that trailed to another door, he assumed was the bathroom because he can hear the shower running.
He gulped, obviously not prepared to see Muzan so badly injured again... but he had to help, even if it's only a bit.
Tanjiro walked towards the bathroom door, the stench of blood damaging his sense of smell far too much.
He released a breath he didn't know he was holding, and opened the door.
"Muzan...?"

Just what in the world happened to him?
It's not just the fact that the shower water is basically mixed with blood, there's also the fact that there are multiple deep scars covering Muzan's whole back.
I can't read his expression. There's no usual bright glow to his red eyes, and when he saw me, he made no effort in yelling at me to get out. He just sat in the bath tub motionless, exposing his fresh cuts to the shower water.
My heart hurt like crazy.
This isn't supposed to happen to him... what did he do to deserve such treatment?
I need to get Akaza.
I wasted no time in bolting out of the room.
He's my best bet right now, as he's just as skilled as Tamayo in the medical field. Not just for humans, but also other demons. He can help Muzan...
He isn't going to like this if he found out one of his Upper Moons saw him in such a state, but I have no choice. He needs the treatment now.
I remembered where Akaza's room is from the times I've been invited over to play games with the other demons. It's slightly farther away, so I have to be quick.
Soon enough, I barged right into his room, startling the living heck out of him.
"TANJIRO, WHAT THE F--"
"I need your help. Please." I cut him off before he could swear.
I gave him no time to ask me what was going on and grabbed his hand, dragging him with me down the halls as I ran.
I'm so scared. Why didn't he regenerate? Doesn't he have the fastest regeneration power than all the other demons?
Akaza must've sensed my fear, because he asked me,
"What happened?"
I held back the tears threatening to fall out my eyes. I can't answer, or I'll end up breaking down before we can help Muzan.
When we neared Muzan's room, he swiped his hand away from mine.
"Tanjiro, we can't be here." He hissed, being weary of the door sitting in front of us.
"Akaza-san, please, I.." I inhaled and exhaled. "Muzan needs you. Please, just..."
He sighed, then nodded. I opened the door and went straight to Muzan's bathroom.
Akaza had the same reaction as mine from earlier.
"Holy shit..." He whispered. Immediately, he began looking around, most presumably for a first aid kit.
He took it out from one of the drawers and started with treating Muzan's wounds right away.
"It will heal." We heard Muzan say.
"When?" I asked him.
"..Two weeks."
Two weeks... How can he possibly bear with this pain in two weeks?! He's not even regenerating...
He hissed as Akaza applied something into his wounds, so I held his hand.
His eyes slightly widened.
"I can't feel pain."
What does he mean by that? Can he really not feel anything? But he was in pain a while ago...
Something similar to this happened around a while back. That time when Muzan was shapeshifted into a woman and somehow, was screaming in pain. When I held him, he wouldn't let go, and stopped screaming altogether.
Could there be something more to us being soulmates?
Either way... I don't know who in their sane minds would do this to him, and to the king of demons nonetheless. I was sure no one else can be any more powerful than him...
I sure am wrong.
While Akaza operated on Muzan's wounds, he never flinched even once. He showed no signs of pain whatsoever and only kept his gaze fixed on our hands intertwined together.
I look up at Akaza, seeing him keep calm like a professional, but he emit a very strong scent of worry and fear.
It's a good thing he's composed. Otherwise, his hands would be shaking and can't give Muzan first aid.
Not long, Akaza finished and stood up, but not before keeping the first aid materials.
He bowed out of respect and headed towards the door to leave, but was stopped when Muzan said,
"Don't tell, Akaza. I trust you."
The bright-haired demon nodded and walked out.
Muzan did not say a word after that. Neither did I.
I dared not let go of his hand. He must think the same. We sat there in silence, only focusing on not letting our hands go of each.
After a while, Muzan decided to break the silence.
"You're supposed to be on your way back already."
"I was... worried." I replied. "You haven't come back yet, so I thought I'd stay a little while. And then you show up like this..."
Again, the tears were pricking at the corners of my eyes. I bit my lower lip to hold them back. I can't show weakness in front of anyone while they're hurt... that's what my dad taught me anyway.
"It's a good thing you're a demon though. Otherwise, it would take alot more than just first aid to patch you up."
He hummed in agreement.
"Sorry, I had business to do."
He's not lying, but he isn't completely telling the truth either.
"What business?"
He looked away and sighed.
"I suppose I should start from the beginning. I did promise I'd tell you everything today...
And with that, he began the full story.
