The three of us walked through Beacon Hills Preserve, listening to Scott talk about what it was like when he was in net. "It felt as if time slowed down, like I had all the time in the world. It's not just that, I can hear more things and same with my smell. Like the Mint Mojito gum in your pocket,"
Stiles dug into his pocket, "I don't have gum in my..." He pulled out the piece of gum and stared at it before putting it back.
"Besides the huge coincidence that was," I started, grabbing the boy's attention, "Maybe it's an infection, it's flooding your body with adrenaline before you go into shock," I said as I kicked a stick with my foot.
"You know, I've heard of that infection," Stiles said as we walked up another small hill.
"Is it bad? Could I die?" Scott said anxiously, looking between the two of us.
"Oh yeah, its called Lycanthropy, it's only bad once a month," Stiles continued and I could see where he was going with this. Scaring our best friend was a thing we bonded over.
"Kinda like a period," I added jokingly, "but instead it's on the night of a full moon," Stiles and I began to fake howl.
"You guys suck, there could be something wrong with me," Scott whined to us and I chuckled quietly to myself.
"I know, I know, You're a werewolf," he started to growl, "Maybe we should melt some silver in preparation for the full moon on Friday."
"We don't need to prepare any silver," I scolded, "Silver doesn't work on werewolves, it's just a myth," I laughed and Stiles knocked shoulders with me. I turned to Scott, "It's probably not that bad, maybe just side effects,"
Scott shrugged his shoulders, "We're here. I'm pretty sure I saw the body here and lost my inhaler there." I moved some leaves around with my foot and shook my head.
"All I can see are dead leaves, there isn't a body, and no inhaler," I told the boys.
"Maybe the killer moved the body," Stiles said but Scott glared at him as he bent down and moved some more leaves around.
"Just great. We're wandering a forest, looking for a body that the killer has probably moved, which means he's still here." I looked around the forest and that's when I noticed a guy, maybe 18 or 19, staring at us. I kicked Scott with my foot and nodded towards the man.
"What are you doing here?" The guy, who I soon recognized as Derek Hale, said angrily. "This is private property,"
"Sorry we didn't know," Scott said, his voice practically trembling, "We were just looking for something... just forget it," Derek then reached into his pocket, pulled out the inhaler, and tossed it to Scott. Then without another word, he walked away, leaving the three of us stunned.
"Okay dude, I've gotta work," Scott said after a second of staring at the mysterious boy. I agreed with him. I had a late shift at the hospital, I was a nurse in training and work there a few days a week, at the most. Most shifts were short, mainly learning experiences.
"That was Derek Hale! You remember, right? He's like three years older than us," Scott looked at Stiles confused, "His family, they all burned in the fire not that long ago,"
"He's kinda hot," Stiles and Scott looked at me like I was crazy, "What, he is," I rolled my eyes and looked to see Derek's figure walking into the burnt down house in the distance.
"You're kidding right?" Scott asked in disbelief as we walked away.
"Oh come on," I exaggerated, "Some hot, muscular, mysterious guys walk out of the forest just like a movie. I'm tryin' to be the main character of some sick action-romance movie, not end the world,"
