I sat at home finishing some of my history homework. Our teacher gave us a large package that was due the next day, which was stupid and unfair, in my opinion. I took a sip of my glass of water when my phone began to buzz. I picked it up and saw that Stiles was calling me, "Hey," I said once I answered it.

"You need to listen to me," The sound of worry filled his voice and I immediately sat up straight. "Scott went to find Allison because Derek brought her home from the party," I stood up from my desk and ran downstairs, grabbed my keys and put on my shoes. I got into Alex's car and pulled out of the driveway. "I'm going to check on Allison's house, see if she's there, and you-"

"I'm going to find Scott," I said.

"No, no you're not. You're going to Scott's house and waiting there,"

"I'm going to find Scott, if he went to find Derek, it means he's in the woods. I'll be there and back with Scott safe in my car."

"Syd you need to listen to me, Derek's different, he's not like us,"

"I need to call you back, Stiles, I'm at the Preserve," I got out of my car.

"Already, you know what, that doesn't matter. Syd, Dereks a werewolf, you can't go into the woods,"

"Stiles, I'll be fine, I know what I'm doing and I'll call you back in less than 10 minutes."

"He killed the girl and he bit Sc--" I hung up the phone and slipped it into my pocket.

I walked in the woods, trying to be as quiet as possible until I saw a bright flash in the distance. I weaved through the trees and over fallen logs, running towards the now dimmed light. I stopped behind a cluster of trees a few meters away. I heard voices, but it was hard to fully understand what they were saying.

That's when a large scream echoed through the trees. Scott, I thought. I stayed where I was but peeked past the trees, trying to see what was going on. I watched two people run deeper into the forest. As they passed through a beam of moonlight, I could see the faces of Scott and Derek in their werewolf form.

A few minutes passed and I started walking back to my car, knowing that Scott could handle himself. I stepped over a log when an arrow flew past my head and burst into a bright white light, blinding me for a second. I stumbled against a tree as another arrow flew into my left thigh. I screamed in agony as I looked at the arrow sticking out of my leg, blood dripping to the ground. I could feel that the arrow wasn't stuck in the tree, so I snapped it in half, trying to make it easier to handle. As the shaft broke in my hand, I tried my best not to scream again.

"Hurry, it'll get away," I could hear in the distance. I pushed away from the tree and tried my best to run away from the hunters. I stumbled a few feet before falling onto the ground, my hand pressing against my thigh, trying to stop the bleeding. I watched as another arrow flew by my head, sticking into the trunk of a tree.

I took off my t-shirt, leaving me in a sports bra. I wrapped it above the arrow, trying to stop the blood flow. "God, I should've listened to Stiles," I could hear footsteps coming closer to me, and when someone grabbed my arm, I started to panic. I tried to pull away from their hands.

"Stop moving and let me help," I looked up and saw Derek Hale holding my arm. I nodded and he picked me up and started running. He ran past trees, trying to lose the hunters behind us. After a minute or two of running, we stopped at Derek's house. He brought me inside and sat me down on a burnt chair covered in black soot.

"Where's Scott?" I looked around the broken home. "He was with you, wasn't he?"

"I sent him back home after I explained everything to him," He looked at my leg, "We need to get the arrow out of your thigh."
