After I did the dishes I did some stuff on the computer, Mostly writing, cause that's what I normally do at night. No one knows, not even my dad.
I showed my mom the outline of my story when I started it. It was about a girl who was going through what I was going through. Simple but sweet. But she loved it and told me to write about it all. So I did.
I looked up the junkyard to see how long it would take to walk there, 30 minutes tops it looked like. I looked at the time, It read 10:02. After debating whether I should leave now or wait I decided to go. But walk slowly.
I still didn't understand the concept of meeting in the middle of the night but I didn't question it. The day passed slowly and I was excited to meet with what I hoped to be new friends. Specific instructions from John said that I should never tell my parents about these meetings, but I didn't tell him that I only had one.
It wasn't that hard to sneak out of my house. I'm on the bottom floor of a two-story house. And with Dad going to sleep early was a plus.
I opened my window carefully and after it slid open I grabbed my blue jacket and climbed out of the window. I wasn't going to bother with a dummy of me in bed because I turned on my bathroom lights, hid my headphones, and locked the bathroom door to make it look like I was in there the whole time. Plus, I had the key to the bathroom in my pocket so they couldn't get in.
I closed the window behind me and shoved a little wooden wedge to make the window not shut, in case I had to get back quickly.
I started my walk to the junkyard. I had some fun in it by running through alleyways and taking a shortcut through the woods. Eventually, at 10:59, I got to the junkyard. Now I had to find out where they were. I looked around through the rubble and didn't find anything. There were mostly fridges, stoves, and dishwashers. But normally in a junkyard stuff is thrown about, however, the front of it was neatly organized but behind it was piles of ripped up metal and cars.
I walked towards it and thought to myself, maybe they're in he-
A hand caught my mouth and pulled me toward a person. It felt like a girl but I didn't know who.
"Don't scream and don't try anything. What are you here for? And don't tell anyone we're here."
"Walker!" I turned my head to see Lizzie walking towards me, "Willow it's okay he's with us,"
I turned to look at this girl named Willow and knew her as the girl that I saw staring at me after the conversation with Lizzie and John. She was pretty but not as much as Summer.
"Cool," She gave a snark and looked at me, "Why did we choose a wimp like this for our group?"
She had the same black leather jacket on from before but she also wore black leggings and black boots.
"Willow he's the one that beat up your ex!" Lizzie said.
"Oh," she smiled and looked into my eyes, "Thanks."
"Yeah," I pushed up my glasses, "No problem"
Lizzie took my hand and pulled me to where everyone was at. Willow followed closely behind and had to move some rubble out of our way to get to where everyone was at.
A bonfire sat in a pretty big van when the door was opened to it. I walked in after Lizzie and Willow following, then closing the door. Inside were nine kids and all of them looked like they had different personalities.
"Guys this is Walker Reed. He's going to be Brett's replacement for the nerd spot."
"Cool dude," a girl said in the corner. She looked like a hippie and wore a jumper with the pants part having a bootcut style on the bottom. It was a navy blue color and looked like it was a really stretchy type of denim. On her feet, she had white clogs that were really dirty. I could have sworn she also had the faint smell of cigarettes on her too but then again there was a bonfire in a van so I didn't really question it. She had black hair that went down to what looked like the end of her chest. Dark brown eyes also accompanied her look by pushing her, even more, to look like a hippie.
