Sunday ended and Monday came. I didn't want the school day to come but it did. I didn't want to have to go to school for once in my life.
You're starting to change, have you realized that?
I ignored the thought. Besides, the more people liked me the more I would be able to impress Summer.
I walked into my bathroom with a towel, jeans, underwear, and a black v-neck in my hand. I showered and got dressed, brushed my teeth, styled my hair a bit, and walked out of my bathroom and packed my bookbag.
There was a choice I had to make at this point. Become what I am now, or slip back into being a nerd. Inside my bag was all my textbooks and books. My favorite book was in there, The Outsiders. I picked it up and looked at its cover. I read it a lot when mom was in the hospital. It somehow soothed me when I read through it over and over again.
But, I had to choose. I opened my closet, cleared a spot for the old book, set it down, and closed the closet door. My choice had been made, I wasn't going to be a nerd any longer.
I walked out of my room with my black book bag in hand and knocked on Juniper's door, checking the time.
Looking down at my watch I read the time, 7:55. School started at 8:10.
"Juniper we need to go," I said naturally.
Wait, why are you worrying about getting to school on time? You're not a teacher's pet anymore, you're popular! Besides, it won't hurt if you're late once.
I thought about it and decided to be late when Juniper opened the door.
"Alright, I'm ready," she burst through her door.
I walked towards my car parked on the street. It felt like the longest walk that I've ever done. My mind was racing with thoughts about turning back to get that book.
It's a silly book just leave it.
I didn't look back at the house for the book. I just couldn't. If I did I would have to go and get it from my room. My book. My mom. I had to leave it. Besides, she'd understand.
I got into the driver's seat and Juniper followed quickly behind with a piece of toast in her mouth while carrying her book bag. Well, more like dragging her bag because she had a suitcase like bag. Grandma must have spoiled her a bit when she was living with her. That's typical grandma.
She gets in and shuts the door all while eating a piece of toast.
"Wow you can actually do a trick for once in your life," I put the car in drive.
"Haha," she replied sarcastically, "Very funny Walker. At least I'm not weird."
"You're lucky that we're in a car right now. Or I'd beat you to a pulp."
"Bet."
We finally got to the school and I shooed her out of my car, "Go to your crazy paranoid friends."
"They're better than you," she said, walking away joining her group of friends that were running to see her.
I sighed. It was time for me to get out of my car and show myself off as a different person.
Getting out I could tell I was getting different looks. Not the, oh the nerd boy is here, looks or, the kid who beat someone up, look. It felt like a woah the nerd is back and he might be bad type.
I was really hoping that I wouldn't be considered a 'bad boy'. The only bad thing that I did once was drop some slides for a microscope on accident. I was always called the pure child when everyone started to learn about the nasty stuff.
