Chapter 18

Chris POV:

I just can't believe what's going on. I just turned to the girls when I felt the loose grip around my hand tighten. I snap into Jesy's direction and see her squeezing my hand. The girls gasp and call a nurse. They immediately check on her „She's waking up... very good" they leave again and I watch Jesy squeezing my hand tighter until her grip was a normal firm one. I smile and tear up looking at the girls. They all sit on the opposite, crying with happiness. „Jess babe. Open these pretty eyes of yours." I let tears roll down my cheek. I see she's trying so hard. I stroke her hand with my thumb. „Take your time baby. You're a fighter." I keep looking at her. I see her chest falling and rising stronger and her heartbeat goes up to a normal one. I can't stop crying because I'm so happy, so are the girls. I look at them and they all smile brightly. I look down at Jesy again and see her stroking my hand with her thumb. A sob escapes my lips and I wipe away my tears „Look girls. She's coming" they all hug each other crying. God this is so emotional... I really feared we'd lose her. She keeps stroking my hand until she starts coughing. „Babygirl?" she starts stirring and then she opens her hazel eyes I missed so much and looks around confused. Her eyes stop, staring into mine. We're all now sobbing messes. She keeps looking at me until she starts smiling „C-Chris?" „Yes baby" I'm balling my eyes out gosh. She turns „Girls?" they nod and cry with happiness. The nurses came back in „Hello Miss Nelson. Do you know where you are?" „Yea. I'm at the hospital?" „Yes. Do you know your name?" „Jessica Louise Nelson." „Your exact birthdate and todays date please." „My birthday is the 14 of June 1991 and today is the... uhm...uh..." „Right okay. Today is the 18 of April 2020." She nodds and looks at me and smiles. „Right Miss Nelson how are you feeling?" „Uh my throat feels very sore and my body in general..." „Yea that's because you've been in a coma for a month... but apart from that... any pain? Any physical symptoms?" „No not really." the nurse smiles „Well you were very lucky Miss Nelson. Your fractured bones could all heal properly, your memory is still in tact and you'll be able to start your normal activities in a few months again... Dr. Phil will bring you something to eat and drink." they smile and leave. Jesy turns at me and smiles. I missed her smile. „Chris?" I look at the girls „Yea?" „Thank you so much for all of your help." I smiled and look down at Jesy „Can you help me sit up?" God her poor throat. She really sounds croaky. I smile and carefully reach underneath her „Right princess. Tell me if I hurt you" She carefully sits up when the nurse comes in with some bread, cheese and water „Right Miss Nelson. Take your time eating. We'll have to keep you for a few more days and then we'd have to see." She nodds and leaves. Jesy turns to me „Can you feed me?" I giggle and look at the girls. They smile and nod encouraging. I scramble a bit and sit down next to her in her bed, preparing her bread when I feel her leaning her head against me. I smile and put an arm around her. I carefully cut the bread and take a piece leading it to her mouth „Make way for the train. Choo choo" she giggles and eats it. „Aaaw look at them" I smile and continue feeding her. She finishes and I want to get up when she grabs my arm. „You're leaving me?" she pouts „Shall I stay?" she nodds and pulls me down to her. She snuggles into my chest and I carefully put an arm around her. I'm so glad she woke up. Without thinking I kiss her forehead and close my eyes.
