"Hey! I'm talking to you!" One of Jacob's soldiers hollered in my face. "I know! And I'm not listening!" I shouted back. I probably shouldn't be shouting at the soldiers, I really need to get out of here. I've been in this god awful cage for a week now, and I can't take it anymore. As soon as I get out, I'm going to go up to Jacob and give him a slap. The soldier rolled his eyes and kicked me before walking off and taunting another captive. Eventually, Pratt came to give me some water. Damn, was I glad to see a trustworthy person for once.
A few hours went by, passing time by staring at the sky and shouting at soliders. I'm actually surprised that Jacob hasn't come out here himself to beat the crap out of me yet. Ah well, I'm sure it won't be long. In all honesty, I'm only not following orders so I'll get his attention. I'm desperate to call him a little bitch, and I'm not going to stop until I do. And... maybe I find him very slightly attractive. Maybe it's time to take new measures...
"SHE'S ESCAPED!"
That's right. I attempted to escape the veteran centre. Crazy, huh? I devised the plan to escape while staring at the sky, waiting to be taken for some training. So here was the plan:
1. Get distractions for soldiers around me
2. Attempt to pick the lock on the cage
3. Hopefully succeed step 2
4. Assuming that step 2 was succeeded, open the cage door and run
5. "Accidentally" alert a soldier
6. Wait for Jacob
And that's the plan. Great, right? Yeah, I know. It's terrible. But, it's the best I've got. Let's see if it works."I GOT HER! I GOT HER! GET HER TO JACOB!"
Success! That's right ladies and gentlemen, I did it! I got handcuffed and taken straight to Jacob. How exciting. "Oh, you're about to get hell wrought on you, lady," one of the soldiers escorting me to Jacob warned, chuckling presumably at my stupidity. "And? I'm not scared of him," I scoffed. "Yeah, yeah, they all say that. They come out of his office shaking in their boots," the other scoffed, pushing my back a little bit. "He's just a man. What's he going to do to me? Eat me?" I rolled my eyes. "You never know, lady, he's an unpredictable man," the first soldier said, knocking on one of the doors in the corridor. I suddenly felt my heart start thudding, but I knew I wasn't really scared. "Come in," I heard a blunt, muffled voice from inside call. It could only be Jacob. So maybe I was a little bit scared. The second soldier pushed the door open and lead me inside, with the first soldier following behind. "You asked to see her, sir?" the first one nervously inquired. "Yeah, I know. You're dismissed," he muttered, standing up from his desk. The two soldiers scrambled out of the room, clearly too eager to get out of there. I don't blame them.
"So.. you tried to escape, hm?" he queried, slowly walking round to stand in front of his desk. I replied with silence. I'd forgotten the speech I was going to say to him, and I was mentally cursing myself. "Not a talker.. that's okay. You'll talk," he murmured, his stare burning into my eyes. "Oh, will I?" I finally managed to stumble out, sounding as confident as possible. He chuckled and crossed his arms. "Ah, she talks! We've had problems with you before. Always talking back, never following orders..." he trailed off, still staring. "Seriously, what do you want from me? I'm nothing special. Just let me go," I hissed, stepping towards him. "Ah, but I would have to be an idiot to do that, you see, you aren't like the others. You're strong. I like that," he said, nodding gently at me. Wow. Jacob just called me strong. Am I surprised? Very. Jacob never compliments people. And I mean, never. "I am?" I replied, genuinely confused whether he meant it or not. "Yeah, you are. You have potential. You're going to train to be like soldiers, not just some weak fool," Jacob said, smirking. "Oh, yeah? Does that mean I'll be able to eat a decent meal?" I remarked sassily, throwing a smile at him. He chuckled again and stepped towards me. Only then did I realise how close he actually was to me. He tilted my chin up with his hand and stared me in the eyes. "Food, water, clean clothes and a bed. Guaranteed."
"Hm, that doesn't sound too bad."
"Good, because it's your best option."It's kind of weird that I was joining him. I wasn't in the cult, and I wasn't in the resistance. So why did I have to go and fight for them? I wasn't going to join the cult, I was just doing this so I wouldn't have to hop from camp to camp, not really having anywhere else to go. He dropped my chin and undid the handcuffs as soon as he realised I was serious. "C'mon. Let's go and watch the soldiers train. Then you'll be able to see what you're going to do," he said, leading me out of the office and out to the training area. I hadn't noticed that he had gently placed his hand on my back, and as soon as I did notice, I felt my face go slightly pink. We watched the soldiers run about, shooting targets. Jacob had a slight satisfied smile playing on his face. I couldn't even help but smile at him.
Well, here we are! I love Jacob a lot oh my gosh
Thank you lovelies
