Into the Woods
Chapter 3
Wren’s POV
I woke up on a hard but comfy pillow, and snuggled deeper into it. The pillow trembled slightly, and a sound that resembled joy and happiness filled the air.
“Wren, wake up,” chuckled my pillow. I slowly open one of my eyes, and found myself looking at the chiseled stomach of Corey. I groan and roll off his lap, stopping when I was spread out like a sea star on the soft bed of grass. Corey’s angelic face appears above me, lips tightly pressed together from laughing.
“What are you laughing at?” I grump. His smirk disappears off his face and a full-fledged grin replaces it. His laughter ringed in my ears, and for some reason, it made me want to smile because he was happy.
“One, you’re hair looks like a bird’s nest. But you still look adorable,” he adds, still smiling. “Second, you just rolled over some geese poop.” My body was stiff and frozen while I processed his words. It was maybe a full 45 seconds before I finally acknowledged what he said. Shrieking, I jump up wailing my limbs around and tearing at my clothes.
“GET IT OFF!! GET IT OFF! EW EW EW EW EW EW EW EW!” I scream. I rip off my shirt in attempt to get away from the disgusting feeling of geese poop near my skin. When I look over at Corey, I find that he’s still laughing, practically crying from the amusement of my reaction.
“Even though I don’t mind the view,” he smirks, “I was just kidding about the poop. I just wanted you awake.” I snarl at the man before me.
“I will get you back for that,” I grin maniacally, a malevolent plan going through my head. He cringes away a little from the crazed look on my face, before shaking off his imagined fear.
“C’mon, we have to get home before your town searches the forest for us,” he says, smiling a little. I freeze when I remember what had happened the night before. Screaming once again, I launch myself at him with closed fingers; my fists flying towards his face.
“YOU SON OF A BITCH! HOW COULD YOU?? FIRST YOU KIDNAP ME AND MAKE ME GO THROUGH THIS STUPID FOREST WITHOUT FOOD, AND THEN YOU DO SOME WEIRD ASS MAGICAL COMPELLING THING TO MAKE ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY PAST! YOU LITTLE ASS HAT! I HOPE YOU DROWN IN THIS STUPID LAKE AND I HOPE NO ONE WILL FIND YOUR BODY FOR A MILLION YEARS AND ALL THAT WILL BE LEFT OF YOU ARE FISH-CHEWED BONES!!” I rant at him. My anger was getting the best of me, and that was not a good thing. Corey caught my wrist easily, with a look of surprise on his face.
“Okay, two questions. One, how did you know that I Compelled you? And two, are you sure that fish eat meat off bones?” he asks, smirking a little at the last question. I sneer at his confident expression.
“Let me answer your obvious questions. One, I would never tell anyone what happened to me. And two, go jump into a pool full of piranhas and see what happens,” I answer smugly. He shakes his head as an answer to me, and bends down with his back facing me.
“Hop on, sweet cakes. You’ll want to hang onto me,” he says. It’s my turn to shake my head when I hear his nick name for me.
