"And," Mr. Yeon continued, handing out tests to the thirty students in his college math course, "against my better judgement, you will also be part of a social experiment."
Thirty pairs of eyebrows raised in unison.
Mr. Yeon nodded, sighing as he elaborated. "You'll each get a small device that is connected to another person's device, and you'll be able to communicate about whatever you want for the whole four hours you are given for the test."
He distributed the phone-like devices randomly, once again sighing to show his displeasure. Some pairs of eyes connected, hoping they'd be together. Other people only rubbed their temples, knowing they would be annoyed to death.
"Good luck, everyone!" Mr. Yeon said before turning the four-hour timer on.

Lee Felix did not know how to react. A phone? During a test? He excitedly checked to see the features of the gadget. A messaging app and... nothing else. That was rather disappointing.
He decided not to use the phone unless he needed to, because he was the kind of person to get distracted easily. He had 200 questions to do and four hours to do them. And counting down, because now a minute had passed.
Felix sighed, pushing the phone to the corner of his desk. He would wait until he needed it or until he was contacted first.
He looked at the first question, his head already throbbing. Why did he let his parents sign him up for this class? Estimate the area under something something blah blah blah...
Felix's mind switched into autopilot and he began the test.

Seo Changbin didn't really know what to think about this "social experiment." Isn't this cheating? He didn't mind. Changbin knew that he was good at math; he didn't need help from anyone.
It intrigued him, though, to know that someone might need his help and use up his precious time. Resolving to—at the very least—see if he was given the luxury of a calculator, Changbin turned the device on. He only had a messaging app.
No big deal; he would be fine. As long as the other person wasn't completely a dimwit.
Changbin checked the time. He had three hours and fifty-nine minutes left to do 200 questions. I'd better get to work, he thought before losing himself in a world of numbers.
